He is so emotional at this point because the clock was at 3 seconds, if anyone on UT line jumps its a 10 second runoff...and we lose...with no timeouts in his pocket to wave the penalty...He said this in a presser this week...great job for the poise of the line.

Is it really a runoff if they jump on the FG? I wouldn't think so because the clock is already stopped. But, it may be. I think the NFL rule is that there is only a runoff when the clock is still moving.
I think you are right. The intent of the rule is to prevent a team from stopping the clock by committing a penalty. IF the clock is already stopped then it should happen. But knowing the NCAA rules committee I'm not sure they wrote it that reasonably.
Now, what is this board going to do if he plays Bama close and wins out over Missou and begins to get mentioned for other openings? Will everbody say "Butch got and is gone"?
I'm pretty sure this is correct. I was at the USCe game in '07. Lincoln missed the 42 yd fg as time would've expired, but the false start negated the miss and there was no clock runoff. The ending of that game was awesome...
