Was happy to see this until I saw they are only losing 5 scholarships over 3 years. In response to the punishment, not the OP, who cares? 5 scholarships is squat. Not to mention, the article mentions "loss of institutional control". What is that? Thought it was "lack".

Think that was the schools decision. Ncaa could levy a more severe penalty

I withdraw my remark if that's the case. I question whether the NCAA would levy more of a punishment against them though seeing as it looked like Ohio State was going to walk away unscathed. I guess I shouldn't complain since it's more than I thought would happen to them. Still think they deserve more

To me this is worse or at least equal to USC. Should get them same penalty.

Yeah not even close; Ohio state cooperated with the NCAA during the investigation, they didn't spend the whole time telling them "f--- off, WE didn't do anything wrong"

I was talking about the actual infractions not their behavior during the investigation.

And it was USC's behavior/refusal to cooperate (lying) that got their penalty to be such a harsh one, same as what happened with Bruce pearl

(by comparison, look at the USC basketball program, where almost the exact same thing happened - however they vacated a season (or two) of wins from when Mayo was there, barred themselves from the tournament for a year, and maybe there was some scholarship reduction on their own part - it's been a while, I'd have to read what all they did again but there might have been a bit more, maybe a coach left/was dismissed...again it's been a while. How'd their punishment compare to the football team's?)
