Gas prices are down on the order of 15 percent in the last few weeks. But gas where I am is UP, about 7 to 8 percent higher it would seem.

I've said it before and say it again: the DAY after oil prices rise, gas goes up. But the reverse is far from true.

Collusion ?

Congratulations on not blaming Bush or Trump in your OP. I’m sure it’s coming, but at least you didn’t lead with it.

Greedy corporations are the cause of high prices. They give capitalism a bad name. Current price in my area as of today is $2.99. But then we tend to be lower than average around here anyway.

Lol! Have you ever had a class in business?

In a nutshell, none of your business, Mr. supply and demand. Doesn't stop corporate greed, BTW. It's called price gorging.
Ever heard of ethics? Naw, Appollyon's progeny deny it exists.

And I do hope Trump is jailed, he's gotten away with way too much for decades. This time, the January 6'ers will find a better prepared, and willing to use force security setting.

Whatsoever, for any cause,
Seeketh to take or give,
Power above or beyond the Laws,
Suffer it not to live!
Holy State or Holy King—
Or Holy People’s Will—
Have no truck with the senseless thing.

Order the guns and kill!

You do have a point with this comment.
Yes, it is very likely collusion. But remember... if you assume that it is collusion, then you are a tinfoil hat conspiracy theorist

Nope, my area is up over 3 dollars a gallon. So no, prices continue to go up

If it were ever proven that the gas wholesale or retail giants worked together to fix prices the anti trust lawsuit cost to them would be in the tens of trillions.

It's not collusion, per se, but stores will use an increase in commodity prices to immediately raise prices even if the price increase isn't hitting them yet.

On dips in oil prices, they wait for a competitor to drop prices. There's some lag here.

Gas stations make their profit largely on the upward and downward lags. If oil stayed constant, gas stations wouldn't make as much $$$...

There are also some regulations that the retailers (at least the big companies) must follow. If the fuel is already in their underground tanks there are limits to the “gorging” of customers that they can get away with. They need to take more deliveries at the higher price.

went down about 10 cents, then bumped back up over night 3 cents. 3.09 is the cheapest I have seen around me.

This sounds like a dangerous conspiracy theory that harms our minority communities
