Interesting notes I have noticed on our commitment page on VQ...

We have 22 commitments on our list. We have 12 4-star recruits and 10 3 star recruits. How the 3 stars are set up is mostly by rivals ratings. Out of the 10 3-star recruits we have 5 are borderline 4 star/3stars. The solid staying put 3 stars are Palardy (whom we need), Taylor (whom could be very productive), Pair (whom Kiffin really likes) and then 2 others. The 2 others are soft commits, Ralph Williams whom we should just stop dealing with his back and forth and pull his offer and Jose Jose who would be fun to have a Jose SQUARED jersey but if he doesn't buy the area then c-ya. Think how sick this class could really be. We have 12 4star recruits, 5 borderline 3/4 star recruits and 3 (3star) recruits. Do we load up with 7-9 4 star recruits and allow them to walk.

Harris and Broussard to grades, also????

How about:

Cullen
Rees
C. Jones
Dietrich Riley
Ogletree
Nelson
M. Lattimore (NSD suprise)
D.Menzie
C.Smith
C. Lemonier

and start on 2011........

any changes or thoughts ????

Jose will be here on the 16th

Ogletree is a longshot now that UGA offered his brother

We will have to fight hard for Riley, Lemonier, Nelson, Smith, and Jones and still may not get them

Menzie dropped us

First off OF COURSE we are going to fight for recruits. We have always had to do this because our geographic location has always been a problem. We can fight for Smith and Lemonier but I like the playing time and fit especially with Smith. Nelson seems rather interested and I wonder how Jones feels about the fact that FSU truly has some major depth at LB, while he could come in and play right away at Weakside.

Wow did not hear about Menzie, amazing how stuff falls when you miss two days of this site. Maybe replace him with Dorsey or get T-Rex on an official visit.

Zander Ogletree's signing is really interesting since he also had an offer from FSU. Pretty impressive offer combo for a no star player. Maybe we stay with Robey instead.

My list would be similar.

I think we finish with

S Ahmad Dixon
CB Nickell Robey
LB Christian Jones
LB LaDarius Owens
RB Marcus Lattimore
OT Chaz Green
OG James Stone
OT James Cullen (JuCo - summer enrollee)
DT Calvin Smith (future OG)

And we lose Broussard and Harris.

Lattimore, really? That would be a shock. Great list, I hope it looks like that.

Lose Broussard and Harris and only bring in Brown at DT? I can't see that happening. Gotta get a DT...

I have followed UT recruiting for over 30 years, and while I have little-to-no inside information, I witness most every year that we lose assistant coaches or we have de-commits which causes major melt-downs. There can be various reasons for de-commits, but often it is because we have bigger fish on the line.

I am not saying that I KNOW that we let Wilson and Gran ("special" teams) leave or that Luc just didn't fit our system as well as another recruit, but stranger things have happened over the years.

On the surface, at least the loss of Gran and Luc would appear to be detrimental to our future, but it will be interesting to see who replaces them.

Even though Fla. recruiting was looking very good this year, I would have to agree with Kiffin that Ga. is probably quite a bit more important to our future. The three Fla teams are hard to beat for the top recruits, but I feel that UGA is on a definite downward trend. The pickings may be very good there, considering Atlanta is a mere three hours drive from Knoxville.

I say yay for Chick-fil-A! :yahoo:

Owns is a Auburn lock, hell even Saban gave up on him.

Christian Jones has been an F$U lock since the day he was born.

Marcus Lattimore is a SC lock.

James Stone ain't coming here.

No reason to take Calvin Smith unless Lemonier comes with him.

I wonder if the Luc commitment will make any difference in his decision? I would be OK with giving up Luc if we could get Jones.

Thats funny, it seems that our coaches disagree with you on all of these points. Maybe we should steer them to greener pastures.

All this talk about "locks" is hollow after the happenings of last week. I'm convinced none of us know anything about these guys until the day they actually make their decision.

Actually I would agree with him. All those are locks, especially when he has all 14 posts of experience, so he would know already. By the way can I get the Super Bowl score for 2010, I have a cool 10,000 dollars burning a whole in my pocket and would love to make some more money....

Depends on whom we recruit to take over as assistant coaches, beause I reel fell good about Torian Wilson as well if we pull David Kelly.

The Lattimore is a Signing Day suprise, but with the other Byrnes boys coming, make it hard for them not to be in his ear the whole winter. Especially when he comes to visit them both at their school in January, hmmm i think that is UT.

It doesn't hurt to make a run at any of those guys. Janzen Jackson, Bryce Brown, Teague, and unfortunately Nuke were all thought to be locks to somewhere else. With this staff it wouldn't shock me if we flip anyone.

I disagree with every single one of your points. Smith has upside at G -- even though we are telling him he will play DT.

There are no such things as "locks" in the recruiting world. It's an invention of the overzealous.
