Oklahoma home field advantage in softball

Needs to be moved around different places. Look in stands tonight and all you see is red.
Agreed, but it is hard when you don't have many stadiums throughout the country that is solely dedicated to softball. Unlike in a sport like volleyball where it just essentially needs to be in a big arena. I will say if they are able to move it, it would be good for exposure for the sport. I assume not even person can make the trip to OKC every year

Ideally, I’d like So Cal, OKC and Atlanta

Hard to build two more 10K+ stadiums without the yearly need.

I mean I can see it being done in SoCal and have some travel tournaments/conference tournaments done out there kinda how it is in OKC with the big 12 tournament.

OK is a great softball program no question but it is a big advantage for them to play in front of an OK dominant crowd especially for WCWS.

Oklahoma would beat any team anywhere. Home field has little to do with it.

They know how to recruit and develop monster hitters. Not slappers. And how many freshmen hit homeruns for them this year at the WCWS?

…and then it is very easy to recruit or get a transfer pitcher….

Old school (and still most ways, including UT) was to get pitching and then hope you get enough hitters around them.

Oklahoma does it differently. And they beat the living hell out of everyone else.

They mention it many times throughout the year which was you can have pitchers that give up runs because their offense was so strong and dynamic that their pitchers didn’t need to be perfect. Opposite of what we were the second half of the year

Second half/last month we seemed more reactive instead of proactive.

One thing I noticed during WCWS, the OK hitters know the strike zone. Last game only two batters struck out. Another thing, they are up there hacking. Hence, freshmen homeruns.

I’m sure on some level Oklahoma feels good about playing in their home state but it sure is difficult to find much criticism for that clearly stellar program. Just simply the dominant program right now. Hopefully LV’s can continue to improve and gain on them.

I'm more receptive to the argument that it helped them this year since the way they went about it wasn't as dominant. But the prior three championships could have been played in Knoxville, Tuscaloosa, Gainesville, Austin and it wouldn't have mattered.

They are supremely talented and exceptionally coached. Those two thing together = dominance.

I’d like to see other teams win (LVs!), but we have to tip our caps to their greatness. It is impressive to watch.

Year in and year out, it makes no difference where this teams plays. They are simplify the best of the best.

Having been in there and seeing a sea of red it makes a big difference especially any play that favors OU completely turns momentum around. The fan difference in not comparable

Gasso has elevated that program and she is the Saban of college softball.

It's just like the CWS. Oklahoma City is central to all teams traveling to the series. It would be great if Oklahoma was not in the series every year but that's just the way it is.

I agree. But I think it is worth looking at their approach.

They hit the hell out of the ball. Their pitching fell off this year but it didn’t matter.

Recruit the hitting first. And then pitchers will beg to come.

It’s interesting because Florida’s coach came from the Gasso tree. His teams consistently hit at the top of the SEC. And his team gave Oklahoma the best fight in the tournament.
