Did anyone see Oklahoma get off the bus last night before the game? I mean honestly USC ran through their defense like a hot knife through butter and they're offense just never could get anything going at all...I don't know about you all but I think that proves that Oklahoma shouldn't have been there and Auburn should have...I'm no Auburn fan but when you go through the SEC undefeated you deserve to be in the National Championship game....JMO :rocks:

Well, the Big XII was no cake walk, either. Or so we thought... Texas A&M, the Big XII's upset team of the season, was crushed by Tennessee and they otherwise came out very flat in their bowl games.

This is just an extension of one of those conference vs. conference arguements, that nobody can win without a massive interconference part of the season.

The Big XII was not as good as everybody thought it was, the Pac-10 was, for the most part, underrated this season, and the Big Ten was grossly underrated. You can't forsee these things, you just have to keep moving. The plus-one game would help a lot, but nobody will have it.

I completely agree with that assessment. Jason White cannot perform in the national spotlight under pressure. Who gave that guy a Heisman? Oklahoma is suuposed to be adefensive powerhouse and Peterson was supposed to be able to run all night long. They may as well have stayed home. How embarrassing.

The same thing happened last year - Oklahoma barely showed up against LSU. Last year it should have been LSU vs USC and this year it should have been USC vs. Auburn.

This is proof positive that pre-season rankings should be eliminated.

I agree that the +1 game would help alot....I want to know why the BCS doesn't want to have it? At least then they wouldn't be in the mess that they are in now...The BCS has went down toilet the last couple of years :flush:

They were saying the other night that the last time the BCS had actually worked the way it was supposed to was when we were National Champs in 98...That was the only time that there was an actual clear Champion...I believe they need to do something to fix the BCS or they'll continue to have the mess that they are in each year

Chalk all that BCS junk up to an odd year in college football. There is no way you can design any computer/human poll combo to rank teams accurately when you have a year of so many undefeated and one loss teams. Such a strong showing as this year by so many teams just cannot be calculated. The current system can only handle 1-3 teams either undefeated or one loss. The only way to permanently resolve the issue is to force all D1 teams into aligned conferences and adopt the D1-AA playoff system. If you included all the sub-major D1 conferences you could possibly come up with 10-12 conferences sending winners to the playoffs. That would allow such teams as Boise, Utah, etc., a chance to prove they belonged that year. To compensate for teams out of the conference championships and to maintain top 25 rankings, you can add at large teams from each conference, the 2nd placers, to expand the bracket, or send them all to auxillary bowl games to compensate for the traditional bowl qualifying teams.

just a side note here. While watching the pre-game interviews with Carroll and Stoops, I noticed that Carroll was loose and upbeat. Stoops would have exploded if you stuck him with a hat pin. I think the Okies were extremely uptight and that resulted in their terrible performance. Well, back to sports psycholgy 101 class....

I think after every team has played four games, then it is time you can make a fair assessment.

And we all know playoffs will not happen for a while. Every major conference (and some of the midmajors as well, Mountain West, C-USA and WAC) is going to have to have an undefeated team for the next five years for anything to change. Going into the bowl season with as many undefeated teams as we had this year is a very rare occurence on its own.
