Greg Maddux had what I think is the most underrated skill in pitching: late movement. That along with pinpoint control made him a Hall of Famer. That combination is far more effective than velocity. Those kind of pitchers tend to throw more innings and stay healthier than the fireballers too. Don't know why MLB is so in love with the radar gun

Because now we are starting to see Randy Johnson’s, with Greg Maddux movement.
I watch a lot of random baseball games, from the A’s to the Yankees, and a lot of times I catch myself just watching the pitch and nothing else. I’ll see a pitch with crazy movement and then glance over to see 99 mph on the corner of the screen. It really is crazy how good these MLB arms have become and it’s even crazier that you have MLB bats that can hit them 1 out of every 3 times they face them!
