Old news...they have been building it for about a year already......You'll find it near the football practice facility...I was on the campus in September walked over and looked at it

I go back to the days when Memorial Coliseum at UK, Stokely at UT and Memorial Gym at Vandy were the showpieces of SEC basketball...now only Vandy remains as a mens arena. Everyone else played in what amounted to hs gyms...Pistol Pete played in an old horse arena at LSU and at Auburn they had an old ROTC barracks hut they used as a basketball "arena" for lack of a better term...the SEC has come a long way in hoops folks.

It's being built directly next to the stadium. They were doing construction. I saw the project, when I was there for the Tennessee game in October.

Why do they need that many seats? More tickets available for the BBN...

If anyone has seen the current arena, they would understand why they are building a new one. Although I do agree that they won't need all those seats. it seems like they send weekly emails all but begging students to buy a $5 ticket.

Ole Miss just isn't that good enough of a basketball program to warrant a new arena. Then again, Auburn wasn't either.

I don't think it really matters how good the program is when the roof's about to fall in. It definitely needed to be replaced.

Besides, one way to renew interest in a program is to do something different, and a new arena is definitely different.

It still seats under 10K, like Auburn. That's probably about right.

This..... Replacing the old one is merely a testament to how old and possibly unsafe the current arena is. I've seen old, vacant high school gyms that are nicer that the one ole miss is using now.

Hopefully they become competitive. SEC basketball is like watching paint dry this year
