Oh my gosh, how sad! This has been a heart breaking week for some families. And some football families as well.

I just can't imagine the heartbreak the family is experiencing right now.

What i have been wondering for a while, are sudden deaths from athletes training up or is it just the micro-media coverage we have now?

I've been wondering that myself. Actually I wonder it about most deaths and tragedies we hear about. Did they always happen and we never got to hear about it, or has there been an increase.

I have to think part of it is because we have 24/7 coverage. I remember in high school a Miss St. player died after breaking his leg and something extremely rare happened where something related to the break caused something to travel to his heart and cause either a heart attack or heart failure. Whatever it was, it scared the crap out of me because I had never heard of anyone dying from a broken leg. But it was a small blurb in the Tennessean sports seciton and even then I heard about it weeks after it happend. Today I would have heard about it minutes after it happened.

Thoughts and prayers go to the young man's family. It does make you wonder why this is seeming to happen so much, or has this been going on for a while and no-one knew. Irregardless, it's a tragedy for the young man's family.
