Nared and Russell have a field day against Miss. Lady Vols have to take care of the middle on defense or this could be a closer game than it has to be. We need to play smart and not pass up good shots for the sake of throwing the ball into Russell, especially when Miss sag in on her.

Passing the ball into Russell when she is covered by a host of sagging players, is a player head issue. They have to use their heads and Holly has to intervene when the ladies start doing stupid things, like any other good coach would.

If we play smart, LVs win by at least 20 points.

I'll get to go to this game. The Lady Vol's should get it together for this game. should get more playing time for Cheridene Green, Kortney Dunbar, We will see if Kasiyahna Kushkituah some or if they are going to red shirt her. Would love to see Kamera Harris play this game, we will need her next year. Lady Vol's by 22

This should be a blowout, especially with Ole Miss losing Shandrika Sessions for the year. I'd be disappointed if the LVs don't turn it up a notch compared to their lackluster SEC play to date. A smooth, fluffy cupcake is just what the team needs right now.

Maybe its the coaching Holly is doing, and Nared needs to shoot better

A game to start getting back on the right track. We need to improve as a team and this game should not be close.

I watched OM play Florida and they have two 300 pound centers ( a little exaggerated but not much ) who will rough up Mercedes.....Mercedes does not like physical play so we shall see how this turns out.One of those big posts can hit the three from the head of the key if not guarded and often does as the trail person on the break.
OM has a quick guard who will also give our defense fits if we play like we have in the last 4 games. And ,If they play a zone ,OM has a real chance if we play like we did against ND's zone .....throwing into the sagging defense for 28 turnovers.

I will be intensely interested to see if the LV's come out with their heads down like they did against Miss State and lose their poise if find themselves behind on the scoreboard.Hope that will not be the case.Go LV's

Ole Miss' obese center from last year gave MR tons (no pun) of fits in last year's loss. Russell was very frustrated trying to deal with her. She's graduated, and her Mini-Me replacement isn't quite as good, so MR should struggle less even if she can hit the outside shot. She takes a lot of 3s, but I don't think she shoots a high percentage. She isn't as nimble around the basket as her predecessor, so I doubt Russell will have problems with her.

They have some decent, quick guards who can't shoot, but their best player is out injured, so this should be a cakewalk.

Totally agree with your assessment. I'm just gunshy to say cakewalk after the past two years.

In the Florida game they had another big....big ...post who came off the bench and they played the two big posts together some of that game.IMO the big post off the bench was more athletic than the one who starts and was Ole Miss best player in the Fla game

A BAD Ole Miss team beat the Lady Vols last season.

If we lose this game, it will be the coaching. There will not be an accurate reason for blaming the players and allowing Holly to go free. If they throw it into a sagging defense and commit 28 turnovers, it is Holly’s job to use a timeout and say quit passing into a sagging defense and take the shot or pass it to another player in the open.

If we are going to have a chance in the Big Dance, Russell needs to find some guts from somewhere. Post are going to beat her down that is the price you pay for being 6’ 6” and being considered one of, if not the best post in college. In the immortal words of Pat, “Suck it up buttercup.”

I guess ole Dean Lockwood never taught her to play tough? :(

Since Russell plays well in international all star games against aggressive foreign post, I would say that it is not demanded by the coaching staff. Look how Genno has changed Stevens. She was very soft at Duke and stood around a lot, however, not at UCONN.
