+1, there is something ****ed with the sampling.

You know, amongst my many problems with the media is their quickness to tell us how stupid Americans are. There are certainly stupid Americans. I would even venture to say that 3 out of 4 Americans are supremely stupid. But they aren't quite that stupid.

i wonder who the other 3/4 of the people survey thought? they probably thought we escaped from white Christians from the south.

I think you need to reread the link. 1 in 4 didn't know the answer, so 3 out of 4 DID know it was Great Britain/England.

If they don't know that we obtained our independence from the British, it is a guarantee that they don't know why we fought for our independence.

This country is in sad shape.

Are we using the Democratic Party's definition of "American"? You know, anyone that currently resides in America? If so, then I believe that stat.

My great state of Arizona would have corrected for this sampling error by first asking everyone to prove that they were an American citizen.

Are you saying that they also conducted the poll in Spanish?

Very small sample size in the poll but I just figured this would be one of those things that everybody knew (like George Washington being the first president)

Wait, what? Wasn't it Franklin? He's on the 100 dollar bill, you know.

I think the true meaning of this poll is that 1 in 4 Americans is a treasonous liberal who moonlights as a secret Muslim. That's at least what gs and justin told me.

I feel the same way about this as I do about polls saying 60 percent of Americans believe a 9/11 conspiracy theory and that 10 percent of the population is gay. I'm also not buying that 2/3 of the country reject evolution, to be honest.

six percent who thought the U.S. fought a revolution against another country. Among the countries mentioned were France, China, Japan, Mexico, and Spain, according to the poll.
Yeah, not buying this.
