Anyone have neg or pos ideas on switching to a 3-4 defense. With the lack of DT recruiting for the last 2 years, I would like to see the scheme change.

I could see trying

Martin Bolden(williams if bolden doesnt make it) brown

and LBS: G Williams McCoy McKenzie AMW

Maybe Dan Williams. But the typical Chavis linebacker is a bit smaller, and faster, much like the ones the Colts use. The Colts, like Chavis, run a 4-3. Those smaller linebackers won't cut it in a 3-4.

If we were to switch to a 3-4, I could see Walker and Martin being LBs along with Gerald Williams.

We might be able to put a starting lineup out there, but if one of those guys can't cut it, we wouldn't have much depth. What happens with injuries and fatigue?

Maybe a package that features the 3-4. Wonder if there are any stats regarding teams that run a 3-4 against the spread?

If we switched to a 3-4, then our Linebackers would have to deal with several O-linemen. And im not sure how that would work out because of the size of our current LB's

It seems like we tried a 3-4 package a little while back and abandoned it for lack of a dominant DT

With the down d line we have we can't put enough pressure on the QB in a 3-4. If we think we are going to compete in the east we better find a way to get the QB on the ground. We can't keep good athletic O linemen off our LB's in 4-3 now much less without a John Henderson or a Shawn Ellis on the line.
