One of the best things about last night’s game...

We have UConn fans nervous for January 23.

That says a lot about our team’s performance and our coaching!

Tennessee has a lot of solid pieces that should make UConn nervous...namely an abundance of size and the potential to really dominate on the boards. Their sole post player will need to play the game of her life to provide inside scoring AND defend an army of big bodies without fouling...because if she heads to the bench they have even less size behind her than ND did. The flip side is that ND missed a lot of open jumpers and if there's one thing UConn is not lacking, it is shooters. Tennessee can't afford to give them good looks.

At this point, it's too early to call a winner, but Tennessee definitely has the roster to challenge them, if not outright win this game. Barring anymore injuries, I wouldn't be surprised to see them walk out of Hartford with another big road win.

I hate to say it, but I’d be extremely surprised if Tennessee beat them. Now, if a miracle could happen and the Huskies somehow fail to improve at all between now and January, but the Lady Vols make steady improvements every day leading up to the game, THEN I wouldn’t be surprised.

But let’s get real. Auriemma probably started his team practicing specifically to beat Tennessee today. lol He’s going to want to crush Tennessee by as big a scoring margin as possible. He may even have saved some plays that weren’t scouted by anyone. Who knows!?

All that said, if the Lady Vols can have a whole game with the magic we saw here and there last night, the Huskies for SURE won’t be breaking any scoring margin records.

Tennessee is the sleeping giant that is awakening. UConn is watching, as are others, and they see it. We had many doubters for last night’s game, some still doubt. No matter, Coach Kellie is not afraid of Geno or Muffett, and she is building a team who is fearless, as well. Kellie also plans for future games, so let the games begin.

Ok fanboy...we all want the Lady Vols of the CPS days, but we are far from awakening.

I wish we had retained Mimi Collins, it would make me feel much more confident about this team (screw Westbrook, I get the sense that her negativity soured the team last year).

Additionally, I need to see some recruiting. Kellie needs to be flaunting those three national championships and inviting Holdsclaw & Catchings to every recruit's house.

I think you need to tap the breaks just a little. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
But, they sure have been fun to watch!

Ah, fanboy...Have we lost so much we’ve forgotten how to be positive, optimistic, pumped over a great (some thought impossible) win, to believe? Awakening, and building, are active verbs, not done deals. It’s so easy to express doubts, and criticize, and predict doom, even say the other team was not that good, when we win. Easy to do, at this point, and appear wise, if we don’t win.

I choose to believe that our Coach and team may very well be underrated. I choose to be excited and pumped for this team and this Coach.
I agree with all you said, except the “we are far from awakening” part.
I see nothing to gain by expressing doubts, therefore, I will keep enjoying all the positives.

I don’t feel like playing it safe with my expectations, they are high.

There's a lot of energy with Coach Harper that was never there when Holly Warlick was head coach.

I would like to see Kellie put Emily in and make some statement fouls!! "Not in my lane" Got the fouls to use, use um...

WBB | Tennessee v Notre Dame | Highlights | 11/11/19

Lady Vols won in Purcell Pavilion for the first time since 2008. The UT triumph, which came after UT lost leading scorer Zaay Green to an ACL tear two days earlier in practice, also marked the first loss at home by the Irish outside of UConn over the last 114 contests. The Irish were 110-3 during that span heading into the game.

How do you know they are nervous?
There were a few posts on their forum about how it won’t be an easy win for them and a few were nervous (a stark contrast to the summer when they thought blow out).

I would assume it is half our performance and half their performance vs. Cal. They aren’t great this year.

Not going to lie I thought we would get killed this year against them, but after watching both games, I don’t think that will be the case.
