40 time listed at 4.9. I thought he was faster than that. Does anyone know how accurate that time is?

He's a pro style QB that can scramble to save his life. All this talk of him being a "mobile QB" and that he fits Jones system better...idk I really just don't see it. Honestly the few times Worley has scrambled, he looked faster than when Dobbs scrambled against Bama.

And to be clear I'm not saying that he's slow or that he can't scramble for extra yards if a play breaks down, but some of you guys act like he's going to be Mike Vick and he's flat out not.

It's not. Going strictly by memory, I saw him listed in the 4.5-4.6 zone. Sorry, too lazy to go back and find the reference.

Worley would have never gotten to the edge in Bama's redzone like Dobbs did. It would have been a 4 yard loss instead of a 7 yard gain. Looks deceived you.

The coaches have been very clear. What they are looking for on the QB keeper on the read is positive yardage. Just a willingness to keep the ball consistently and pick up 4 or 5 yards at a time increases your chances of making bigger plays with RBs in the run game.

They aren't asking the QB to house it every time he keeps it.

NCSA has him at 4.70

At any rate he isn't a "true" dual threat QB. If he's willing and able to make a loss or throw away into a gain, even a short one, with any regularity that'd still be nice. Let's be honest though...his real job out there is to make the correct read and complete some passes.

Dobbs is around a 4.65 40, from what I remember. The services were all over the place with his times.

It doesn't really matter, does it? If his instincts kick in 2 or 3/10's of a second faster that alone makes him "effectively" faster than his 40 time.

As someone mentioned, he outran a Bama LB to gain 11 yards. Not bad.

I'm still confused as to why Justin Hunter is our new starting QB.. I thought he went pro after last season??

Watching his gamefilm cut-up, both the running game and the passing game opened up when he went in, and it wasn't because Bama's D suddenly got bad, or quit trying.

They suddenly realized that everyone couldn't just crash inside on the read, so several times our RB popped through and got a big gain, or plodded ahead for several yards. It looked like there were several times that the linebackers hesitated to see if he was going to run, which opened up our receivers. In the future, if he proves to be a danger to just keep the ball occasionally, we will probably see a lot more zone coverage, because defending DCs will not want their secondary with their backs to him. This will make life a lot easier for both Dobbs and our young receiving core.

If Dobbs can do well enough to just plant a seed of doubt, a lot opens up in this offense.

If Dobbs isn't a little more careful this weekend scrambling than he was in the bama game we might have to put pig out there to play a little QB

I think he runs faster with science.

I think he is around 4.7 -4.8 range - certainly not a duel threat, but I believe he is more familiar with the type of reads he has to make and feels more comfortable pulling it in and running for 8 or 9 than JW did.

He did pull it down enough to gain 19 yards on 3 carries in a half of football though.

If he can pull it down for 4-5 carries and 25-30 yards a game to go along with the hard running of Neal and Lane (whose holes will only up up with more of a QB run threat) and we can get someone besides North to make a reception this team would be deadly. By deadly I mean possibly 7-5 or 8-4 with a good chance of winning the Bowl Game.

(I base some of this on how good I am at NCAA football on my XBOX360) :whistling:

Dobbs looked slow to me when he scrambled Saturday in Turdscaloosa.

The one play in particular I remember was when he kept in on the read option. On that play, he outran the Bama defense to the edge but I'm pretty sure he started to slow down as he was getting ready to go out of bounds, which made him look a little slower. Just my observation anyway
