One of the recruiting services has Dobbs

He outran a Bama LB to the sideline on that keeper so I'm not worried about it.

ehhh.... Idk but I remember seeing that play and thinking "dang he's not moving as fast as VN said he was going to" Lol probably happens a lot.

But I do think he is a better fit in the system. Kid definitely isn't afraid to run. He took some shots against Bama and just popped back up

He is fast enough 3 carries for 19 years versus Bama. If he can average six yards a carry we'll be fine in that part of the game. I got a little nervous about the way he was handing off the ball sticking it out there like a big loaf of bread. That was the only bad part of his game I noticed.

That s how you option. The defense sees the ball and watches it go into the RB's breadbasket. He then gives it or keeps it. Very effective when he does keep it too.

The one play in particular I remember was when he kept in on the read option. On that play, he outran the Bama defense to the edge but I'm pretty sure he started to slow down as he was getting ready to go out of bounds, which made him look a little slower. Just my observation anyway

I remember that one but the one thats sticking out to me was the read option to the right and he did not have speed or moves to evade the left defensive end or the help from the corner i believe...now he did look slow on that play...but no one can claim he's fast....HE'S NOT....but maybe he's a little quicker with the feet...IDK....but we will see because Missouri's D in not shabby....

I have seen a few sites that have him running a 4.7 40.

Assuming many of these players who have 40's listed at 4.4 really have times that fast.... They would catch Dobbs after he ran 20 yards if they had equal acceleration in the same direction and gave him a 50 inch head start.

My point? A 4.7 is fast enough for most situations.

I wish there were a way to prohibit 40 times that are not laser timed. Hand timed 40's are little more than marketing gimmicks for the most part.

He's a pro style QB that can scramble to save his life. All this talk of him being a "mobile QB" and that he fits Jones system better...idk I really just don't see it. Honestly the few times Worley has scrambled, he looked faster than when Dobbs scrambled against Bama.

And to be clear I'm not saying that he's slow or that he can't scramble for extra yards if a play breaks down, but some of you guys act like he's going to be Mike Vick and he's flat out not.

Many quick footed QB's have looked hella-slow against Bama's defense so I do not think that is a good measuring tool to judge from...I'm just saying :dunno:

40 time listed at 4.9. I thought he was faster than that. Does anyone know how accurate that time is?

He might run a 5 flat but when he drops back and looks over the field you don't wonder, you know that's your QB THE NEXT 3 YEARS, NOT SAYING JUST WONDERING WHAT WAS PEYTONS 40.

If I'm not mistaken on the play to the right, bamas linebacker was spying him & made that play. The backer didn't flow to the dive.

Yeah. Even Jones said he's a pocket QB who can scramble when a play breaks down.

Aren't all QB's able to scramble when a play breaks down?
__

I feel like 40 times are irrelevant in many situations, especially situations QB's often find themselves in.

It seems most QB rushing gains will be less than 10 yards and the QB already has a running start, as he tries to buy read-progression time before committing to the run.

Giving the QB a jogging (pronounced 'hyogging' ) start may be a more accurate way to guage their 40 time...

__

In other news:

Why is a quarterback called a quarterback, a half-back called a half-back, and a full-back called a full-back?

Shouldn't the full-back really be called the half-back, and the half-back called the full-back?

Shouldn't it be 'quarter' back, 'half' back, and 'full' back - instead of 'quarter' back, 'full' back, and 'half' back?

I'm sure there is a simple reason for the titles being arranged this way - I'm just a little to dense to enlighten myself!

Like there is a huge difference between 4.4 and 4.6.. He is fast. He is indeed a dual threat Qb. You will see.
