One of the worst rules in sport

Watched that on ESPN here in Ireland and could not believe how cruel that game was. That touch back rule has to be one of the stupidest rules in all of sports. There should be no touch backs at all it should be ruled a fumble if recovered by defense or a loss of down if it goes out of bounds. :realmad:

I have to agree. It just doesn't seem sensible, regardless of the fact that it bit us. We always seem to expose the oddballs.

I wholeheartedly agree......... You're rewarding the defense for doing nothing. Penalize the offense (loss of down) but not to the degree of losing the ball.

completely agree. if you cannot advance a fumble, then you shouldn't lose possession based on a fumble OOB. so freking tired of losing!!!!! this hurts more than anything I can remember

I dont get it either. If it hops out of bounds on the sides, Offense gets the ball back at that spot. If it hops through the goal line, defense gets it? That is stupid

the ground doesnt cause a fumble. Its a wash...

The fumble wasn't out of bounds. It went through the end zone. Slight but important distinction.
