Jochen Wiest, an Auburn resident who police say is "not affiliated with Auburn University," was arrested on Sunday on charges of desecration of a venerable object, a Class A misdemeanor in Alabama, which carries a penalty of up to one year in jail and up to a $6,000 fine.

Not so much attempting to burn a tree, but the fact that you're doing that in a highly crowded section of town (the very center of it actually) just a few yards from several old buildings. Can someone please explain something to me? Auburn fans tend to blanket this area with toilet paper quite often. What a mess. Who cleans this up? How does this get cleaned up? How hard is it to get toilet paper down from the trees? When I drove through there there were no signs of past toilet papering. Someone has to clean that crap up over and over again.
