When we are missing just one key player, it changes the entire trajectory of the game.

-Hooker was the key player that led to TN being the number 1 offense in the country.

-Hyatt made catching the ball look easy

-Mays made the O-line look tough and unbreakable.

-Banks kept the defense in the game when half the d left in the transfer portal.

Who's gonna step up and be that guy that dominates his position with consistency?

Let's not forget a key team member who is now the head coach of another team. That is our departed Offensive coordinator (and as I remember play caller). Hipp is now calling plays ( I think I remember this being stated earlier). H8is information comes down from box, he then makes decision, tells relay person, QB gets the play looks things over may change play. On and on this crap goes. Results,,, much slower play by offense. Not all on the team on the field.

Hyatt wasn’t catching bullets from Milton. You also didn’t mention 1st round draft pick Darnell Wright keeping the OL locked down.

We were never going to be 9-3 this year.

With Milton it’s hard to do the job at wr. You’ve got to run your route, trust his ball placement isn’t going to get you hurt or killed, and at the same time when you come out of your route catch a bullet coming at you. Milton isn’t the biggest problem but he’s a problem. Add to the fact that the guy is tentative running the ball even though he’s built like a tank. He can’t throw on the run accurately, hell half the time he can’t throw accurately standing still. He’s also slow to process the defense as well.

That’s your leader on offense. I mean to be fair our Oline is worse. And our defense is a bunch of pansies as well outside of a few.

I still think he gives up the job to Nico midseason. Have thought so since the spring. It’s just too early right now, Heup has to time it perfectly to avoid locker room issues since so many guys look up to Milton. If Joe struggles against SC or A&M, I look for Nico to get an opportunity because “we needed a spark”. At that point it’s up to Nico.

Maybe but we need multiple OL who can play in this league. Put a decent SEC OL in front of Milton and things might look different. Last year offered a glimpse of what might have been had our roster been upgraded through the portal.
Just take all the players off scholarship and send them home and start over like Colorado!

Bru said it straight. No trust with the team. Therefore there is not one player that can step up. It has to be a group effort and there is obviously a lot going on behind the scenes. Could it be NIL money? I mean hell I saw the kicker on TV doing a commercial yesterday. The kicker? WTH?

I’ve been wondering if Joe will have another “injury” to open that door?

Exactly. People act like Heupel has to do something drastic to make a change but most likely he does not. Nico will get his opportunity soon enough.

I think you named four players….

I'm thinking the loss of Alex Golesh is bigger than we expected. He did very well against Bama this past week.

Yep, well at least they have some idea of what they need to be shopping for in the portal 😂 they need to (obviously) get some people who already somewhat developed, because frankly, there is probably not time for that 😂

D.
It's interesting because I thought overall they would improve and not rely on a few players, especially on D.

SMH! It was 1 loss. Some of you are ready to burn the barn down with the livestock still in it. This place is insane at times.
You really don't get it do you?

That was the worst Florida we've played in a long long time.

We were borderline Top 10 team. They weren't even in the top 35, and they smoked us.

It's as if no amount of work during the off-season. Talent acquisition, or planning can beat a bunch of guys wearing Florida uniforms.

Florida won't even make a damn bowl this year. And yet we decided to lay down for them.

Tired of seeing that BS year after year. They don't even have to be good to beat us!!

I have a feeling that if Josh starts Nico, Carter, and Gibson, this team will win out besides losing to Mizzou on the road

Oh, I get it, trust me. Our O line had major players missing. The success or failure starts with the O line. Mays sets the blocking schemes. He was missing and so was his experience.
We always get Flordia's best effort. Even when they are not elite, we get their best effort. Sort of like KY gets our best effort.
The entire team was flat in the first half of the game. We came out at halftime and played much better with great effort. There were several no-calls on PI that should have extended our drives. They got away with holding most of the night. JMHO
You have no idea if Florida makes a bowl or not. There is a lot of football left to play.
I wish we were a borderline Top 10 team but we haven't played like it. That can be said about Bama and several other teams. We were ranked too high and Flordia is better than many of us want to give them.
If you can't remember back 3 years ago or see we are a much-improved team under this coaching staff, I can't understand things for you. GO VOLS!

Since when has the fact that we played a game against Florida when our team was better on paper ever stopped us from losing to them? Even Phil Fulmer was 5-12 against them.

Thankfully I seriously doubt Heupel, his coaches and players are as pessimistic as most on here. I just don’t understand the “we’ve lost one game the entire season is over, might as well start prepping for next year” crowd… are improvements needed, yes. Are they impossible? No. Milton is not playing anywhere near as bad as many would like to believe. All 11 guys in offense have to get on the same page, that’s the big thing; if any adjustments are needed to the lineup I would imagine it would be along the offensive line and in the secondary, but that’s my speculation I trust the coaches to know whether that needs to happen or not.

To me it looked like Beasley on D was trying and Bru McCoy on O was doing the d%$# thing.
