well you have a new coach..so you got some buzz..tradition always helps..tennesse will get a good class no matter what..so recruiting shouldnt be a problem..dooley just has to get the players that fit the team..regardless of rankings..and reading other posters...this has to be a big class because everything i read that there is alot holes...how many seniors are on this team now? and how many scholarships have not been used yet?

i believe the vols could take 30 players...so dooley should fill this class up with depth..25to 28 kids would be a great class

The only thing I want to hear from these recruits is their pledge to be a Vol. Anything more than that is icing on the cake.

and we're not exactly lighting it up in that department, so I'll hold the applause for the time being.

UT has 15 Seniors. When the season starts this fall, most expect UT to only have around 75 players on scholarship so we will be about 10 or so under the limit.

yea we could take 30+ but the new SEC 28 limit rule is screwing us. I think the max we can take is 26.

We badly need to build depth in the trenches. Our class won't be great ranking wise because of the players we need, and there will be tons of idiots disappointed about where we finish. Some people don't look at the big picture.

I love being high in the recruiting rankings, but I'm realistic about where we will stand due to all of the uglies we will be getting. They will mostly be 3 stars, but are more valuable at this point than any 4* prospect we could get at other positions.

EXACTLY..alot of miami fans were disappointed with the class ranking of last year and miami probably brought one of their best o-line class ever!..and they brought in 4 tightends...coaches cant take 10 wrs and runningbacks every year to raise the rankings

Volnation, do you think that coaches let these recruiting services do most of the leg work for the majority of their offers. IMO yes.

OL is always the most difficult position to rate because even in the best HSFB states like FL OL's seldom play against someone who can really challenge them.

I really like Posey but don't expect Rivals or Scout to make him more than a 3*. He's big, strong, smart, reasonably athletic, and has a nasty streak. I like what I hear about him more than anything I heard about Chaz Green last year... and I was really disappointed when UT missed on him.

Great point. We have the exact same amount of incoming freshman(11) as FL, AL, USC, OHst, OK, TX and everyone else. Doh!

Define legwork. Kids get ranked after offers. Many offers come after camps/visits. Other offers come after the rankings. (Corrections welcomed where needed)

That rule is stupid, imo. It seems like if you have an 85 player roster limit than you should be able to recruit up to that number. The strategy of who they take and when they take them should be left to the schools and let the SEC enforce the full roster number.

Isn't it the Nutt rule? Iirc, he signed 67 guys one year.

Yeah, it was Ole Miss a few years ago. The rule is intended to make academics look better in the SEC but it is screwing the Vols right now.
