Coaches still believe Ferguson is the QB of the future and don't want to burn his redshirt knowing that game was lost and Worley will be back.

I think Dobbs is the one to run the team like Butch wants. The read option is when the QB actually keeps the ball and runs sometime. Just think Dobbs is the one for that.

Or we could just pretend Dobbs played a game that was even anywhere near Brent Schaefer or Tyler Brays first performance and pencil him in for the next 4 years.

If he's the QB of the future, why not give him reps. Not buying that.

I don't think the coaches have automatically selected one of the freshmen QB's as the "one." If Dobbs does well enough, he is the guy.

I think both of them would do great being the QB for UT.

Dobbs is going to have a leg up though considering he will have half a season of experience in his pocket now.(Hopefully)

CBJ said that it was a coaches decision to put in Dobbs over Ferguson. Not because he was hurt and I don't see why in the world they would save Riley if he was better than Dobbs. Worley will help but it will be from the sidelines after this season definitely.

Yeah, because Bray & Schaefer both debuted against Bama.

Because a whole year is > a few reps. Not saying that's what happened or what usually happens but there is a reason why Ferguson keeps getting warm and acting like he is about to go in.

Like I said, CBJ said it was a decision the coaches made during the game. Probably during halftime.

Maybe Ferguson thinks if he warms up faster than Dobbs, coach might put him in. If Ferguson is better than Dobbs, he would have played yesterday.

Butch Jones has not anointed anyone "the qb of the future." Neither Riley or Dobbs. They were listed as co-second string. There hasn't been one legitimate statement from anyone of note to the contrary. What we have seen is speculation in different directions from the media, but nothing concrete.

This is turning into a war between people who already swore their allegiance to one or the other. Let Dobbs play and if he's good enough, he's the QB. If not, then Riley will get a shot in spring practice.

For the last time, he didn't save Ferguson because he was the long term answer. Coaches play the guy who gives them the opportunity to win at that precise time.

No one gave him an opportunity to win yesterday.

Dude that doesn't even make sense you know that right. If that was the case the would want to burn his red shirt so he can lock the spot up. They burn Dobbs red shirt and he performs well during the last month and the bowl game then he is a lock to start next year. So no I think they burned his red shirt because they believe he is the future. You put Ferguson in and we have the same problem that we have with Worley. We are running an option with a QB who is not a runner

I don't buy it.

Both of them are good don't get me wrong but I just think they went ahead and put in the QB they thought was mentally prepared.(Dobbs)

I believe they're a close race and will evaluate them both after the season. Dobbs will have the edge though.

Also, CBJ put Josh Malone with Josh Dobbs on his official visit. That could be more of a personality thing but you never know.
