one thing to consider....

To pretend that Dobbs performance yesterday was anything other than OK is pure idiocy. To not understand that coaches that coaches redshirt players, mainly QBS, to have them as a 5th year player, and not necessarily because they are at the end of the depth chart, is also idiocy.

Are you a friend or related? Seriously. HS teammate? You don't burn a redshirt to save the long term solution. It sets that kid back because he doesn't have the ingame experience. Coaches don't hold their best player back. Name one QB here over the last 20 years who was redshirted when he was really the better QB on the team? There aren't any. Even Fulmer chose to bench Leak and Clausen in favor of the QB who gave us the best chance to win. Anything else would sabotage the current team, and coaches don't do that.

Its no coincidence that every time It looked like someone besides Worley or Peterman were going to come in, Ferguson was the guy warming up. Dobbs comes in only after halftime. I'd love to hear the conversation between the coaches at the half. I'm betting "who gives us a better chance to win this 0-35 game" was not part of the discussion.

No, it was probably "Who do we feel more comfortable with going into the future?"

Noone would waste a redshirt for no reason, thats just plain stupid. Its obvious to everyone, except you, that they feel better with Dobbs.

Aaron Murray. This is Butch Jones first year here.

Man, Dobbs is a lot better than Worley. You're blind if you can't see that.

If you saw anything other than an OK performance from Dobbs yesterday, you are blind as a bat. Go back and look at these epic plays you seem to think Dobbs made.

There was 1 great throw and it was probably I'll advised. Get real.

Now you're trolling. You sound like Brandon Stewart's mom, ie "the Uncle Rico" syndrome. The kid looked very good for his first reps, so he has the shot right now.

What are you so afraid of? That Dobbs could be the answer? Are you a Vol fan or a Ferguson fan?

The bottom line is the coaches have given Dobbs the opportunity to play this year, and it's now up to him to prove that he has what it takes to lead the team. The kid was a decorated QB and considered a steal when we got him, so why are you so down on his success?

Aaron Murray would never have started as a true freshman. Are you trying to say that he would've beaten out Matthew Stafford?
:eek:lol:

Yeah, I am sure they waited till then to have that discussion, and that was how it went lol. More like if we have to put someone in, who gives best chance to win rest of season.

I never said he had any "epic plays". He is a lot better than Worley though and I did see that in the short time he was in. You're blind as a.... blind person if you don't think that!

Haha,

Seriously though.

Pretty sure Matthew Stafford was in the NFL during Murrays redshirt year and Joe Cox was starting at QB for Georgia.

So why hasn't he been starting?

Cox was a senior. Huge difference between pulling a RS off one in favor of the other. The closest comparison would be Mason and Murray, and Murray never lost the starting job, or Shockley and Green.

Probably for the same reason Riley never started. For the same reason Bray didn't start the openers, Clausen didn't start the openers.

They did not go through spring practice and the coaches felt more comfortable going with the more experienced hands.

The only way your argument holds any water is if Dobbs starts against Missouri.

The problem isn't my argument, it's that your theory goes against years and years of examples proving otherwise.

The coach will go with whoever gives him the best shot to win each game. If it's Worley, then it's Worley. If it's Dobbs, then it's Dobbs. You don't coach to lose games.

Serious question- why are you so worried about Ferguson? It's been a while since I've seen anyone so dedicated to one player whose never taken a snap as a UT player.

I'd say bUTch is going to play both of them and maybe even Worley next year. He's been known to use 2 QB in games before. It going to be whoever gives him the best shot at winnning. Can you imagine the headaches that will cause for DC as they have to work for 2 different styles of QB? He could put Ferguson and toss to Dobbs and they can throw or run an option. And they could use trick plays or straight throws deep. Something bUTch is also known for.

Coaches still believe Ferguson is the QB of the future and don't want to burn his redshirt knowing that game was lost and Worley will be back.

Fergy was injured in practice last week. It was not a season ending injury but one that would keep out of the game against Alabama. Hamstring, groin, elbow, etc.
I read yesterday that he had some type of apparatus on him due to an injury. So, Dobbs may not really be our #2 guy. Fergy may be the preferred guy.
