I keep on seeing 4-1 and not 3-2.

So, basically we can only afford to lose 1 game, right?

What team?

If we lose one game, the LSU road game or Vandy home game would be the least damaging to our resume. However, winning those two also would be our best opportunity to make a splash down the stretch.

Whoever the loss is to is irrelevant to the actual RPI ranking. It will, however, affects the nuts and bolts of our resume, i.e., how many good wins and bad losses we have. RPI is just winning percentage and schedule strength, so going 1-1 against Austin Peay State and Connecticut yields the same result, regardless of who was the win and who was the loss.

Take out the Chaminade (sp?) game. It doesn't factor into our NCAAT resume/RPI/W-L... AT ALL. So our record is actually 13-12.

One way or another, we have to get to 19 wins... MINIMUM! And even 19 wins, only puts us on the bubble with an RPI of 55-62. Keep in mind that generally, a couple to a few teams will win their CONF-T and will still have an RPI lower than 68... which can effectively bump higher RPI teams out... hence being "on the bubble".

20 w's will get us in for sure being our RPI will be in the 45-33 range... not really on the bubble.

To get to 19 wins we could go 5-0 and 1 more in the SECT. We could win out and then lose to UK or Florida in the 2nd round of the SECT and get to 19 wins.

Or we go 4-1 and 2 more in the SECT for 19 wins.

3 wins in the SECT is winning the SECT and our record/RPI is irrelevant... so 3-2 means we have to win the SECT because 2 SECT wins gives us 18 w's and an RPI around 70-80.

Actually the RPI of the team you beat or lose to is very relevant.
Arky had a lower RPI (61) we beat them at home so we only jumped about 5 spots in the index.
A win against Bama on the road (RPI 37) would probably jump us about 15 spots.
The better the RPI of the team you play and where you play the more it affects your own.

We should worry bout bama this weekend first. It's going to be a tough road game unless the suspensions stick through the weekend.

we really need to win at bama on saturday, if we win that and can jump 15 spots or so as you say and this really starts to come to light a bit. once we get inside of about 80 this is actually going to seem real to me and not like a dream :)

Not that it matters, but we beat bama and we'll really start turning heads in the media.
Many are still writing us off as a tourney team.

exactly. once you get into the 80's anything is possible, especially with potential teams in the sec t that you will play.

i would love to garner some media attention. it really would mean a lot for the program and would go a long ways in recruiting imo. if you turn on espn for them talking college basketball and they lead off with something about tennessee making a huge late push that would be huge imo.

then if we continue that run and make it into the ncaa on a big time run, you can bet we will get some big time love from the guys picking brackets on tv.

Watching a really lame Vandy/Ole Miss game right now. Guys are talking alot about the SEC in general and have mentioned that Tennessee is one of the hottest teams in the SEC right now. Mentioned Stokes by name and big kudos to Martin for the job he is doing. :yahoo:
