Just saw on UTSports an article that said Dobbs will be only the 8th True Freshman to start at QB in the entire history of UT football!

That is hard to believe when you realize UT has been playing 122 years!!

Kinda puts our recruiting over the last few years in perspective! Yikes!

Please Mr Dobbs, give all the doubters a giant Shatburger to eat!

I think for a long time, freshman weren't allowed to play, Marshall had to get that changed after their plane crash in order to keep the team going. Atleast thats how the movie made it sound.

Freshmen were allowed to play back in the early years. I'm not sure how long they had been in eligible prior to 1972.

Did not know that, and knowing is half the battle! :)

Still only 8 in 30+ years.

"only" the 8th. What is your point?

Could imply that either we are so thin at qb no other option other than taking a chance on a freshmen qb. Or the perspective that most of us take is the other 7 had success so why not the 8th?

Am I the only one belly laughing over the pie chart? Best thing I have seen in a while. (Women of threads not included) :)

Dobbs, Bray, Ainge, Scheaffer, Clausen, Suggs, Manning, Stewart. Is that right?

Kind of hard to believe it didn't happen prior to 1994. The period between Condredge Holloway and Andy Kelly wasn't exactly filled with QB legends. We spent about a 12-15 years holding our breath every time somebody dropped back to pass.

Stewart never started a game. You're missing Worley.
