What do you think you're doing bringing facts to the discussion?

This makes no sense - it’s the coaches fault. 😂😂😂

but we do have three 4* DBs in the 2023 class and one in the 2024 class
We should probably add a couple more transfers to that list as well for next year. Two of the three current composite 4/5 stars were transfers as well.

Okay, I’ll take the bait.

Let’s consider the bottom four on your talent list and the number of points given up to SC this year:
Arky (30); KY (24) TN (63); Vandy (38)
Even compared to teams with similar talent levels, our defense looks poor.

I hope that you are right and that talent not coaching is the issue, because I don’t think Banks or Martinez are going anywhere. But, it is really hard to see these two as the ones to give us a defense that can contend for the CFP.

By looks poor you mean “if you cherry pick a one game sample”?

I’m pretty sure that “poor defense” held Kentucky, LSU, and Vandy to their lowest points on the season.

Have you considered they can’t give you a cfp contending defense because they lack the talent to do so with?

I think the fact that they fielded a top 20 defense (yards per play) despite the lack of talent is plenty of reason to believe we’ve got the right people in place

As I recall we had a pretty good pass rush in those games and it masked the deficiencies in the secondary. When we didn’t get the pass rush, the results weren’t so good and they were totally exposed against SC.

They did a great job of max protecting

But, but, but some folks are convinced it’s entirely coaching. Yes I think there are issues with Martinez. Never been that big of a fan but this info tells you all you need to know about the lack of talent in the secondary. Looks like Josh is turning that around in the new class. Excellent research. Thanks.
