biggest suprise: St. Louis over Denver...
biggest Disappointment: Carolina...D was a no show.
Best Performance: Steelers, homer pick i know...but they looked good, really. and Falcons...huge win on the road in the division.
worst Performance: Lions,packers, panthers

Player of the week thus far: Donnovan Mcnabb...

something weird: Home teams were awful this week...Home teams were 5-9 over the weekend.

So tonight, i'm going with the away teams...

Cowgirls lost, Giants lost. If my Skins come through, it'll be a nice way to start the season.

Dante Stallworth had a heckuva game.

as a skins fan, that would be a great way to start...and you're right, Stalworth had a really good game....life after New Orleans....works for him, not so much for Aaron Brooks....:p

but look out...home teams not been good so far....vikings may come in and keep the home team woes going....Brunell will have to play better than he has show thru the pre season, that's for sure.

Goes to show that home field in the NFL doesn't mean anything, except the occasional exception of dealing with the weather.

yep...i was still suprised though...NFL prognosticators make a big deal about winning at home and hoping to split onthe road....but i'm like you....i don't think it means anything in the NFL.

there are a few exceptions...i think KC has a great homefeild, as does Denver....Pittsburgh, while it's not necesarily an advantage (see the last two home AFC championship games at Heinz feild), it is pretty cool to see all those yellow towels going nuts, and Green bay...

Yeah. Two or three of the stadiums actually get loud enough to affect the game, and then the stadiums in New England, Buffalo, Green Bay, Chicago, etc., can have some pretty crazy weather.

I just don't think the majority of pro fans are as intense and loud as you get with college fans.

That said, FedEx field is the biggest stadium and supposedly one of the more initimidating environments. :)

yep...those teams with the weather...remember the chicago game a couple of years ago and the wind....that was cool...blew the ball right out of the air on fg's.

Denver with the thin air also takes it's toll on opponents....

but you're right, very few get loud enough (Seattle was a good example of this in the NFC championship game last year) to make a difference...

hey, milo, there's some props for your NW team....i was really impressed with the Seattle 12th man in that game.

Well...

The Trail Blazers suck, the Sonics are likely leaving Seattle, and in the event the Mariners have a good season it's choked away. So the Seahawks are the becaon of hope.

We are very good fans up here, just unfortunately plagued with poorly run franchises.

Your Seahawks had me sweating it out yesterday. They were my pick in a NFL suicide league.

Who would have thought that Detroit would stay so close?

Well Seattle has surely set themselves up to be a factor in the NFC for the next few years....and given the division they play in, should be a play off fixture for the next few years.

Not me...Detroit is terrible...i think that was an abberation for Seattle...

Seattle just picked up Deion Branch, too.

As far as the NFC West, Arizona is looking like they will finally be a team that could contend.

Baltimore was also pretty impressive.

Looks like the AFC North could be one of the better divisions with the Steelers, Bengals, and aforementioned Ravens all looking very good in the first week.

Agreed...cincy looked good...but KC has defensive issues and now no Trent Greene.

...also think their running game will suffer with the losses on the offensive line.

Either that or the Bengals run defense is that much better, in which case, they become a scary team.

the thing about Cincy, at least for last year, that was a bit misleading was that they got SO MANY turnovers last year...i think they were some kind of crazy +30 in turnover margin...that's a good thing, don't get me wrong, but hardly something you can count on week in and week out....which made their defense look a whole lot better on paper than they probably really were in reality...

I hear ya jake, even with all of the turnovers created, the Bengals D still crumbled late in the year... I don't have the stats, but they probably started causing fewer turnovers near the end.
