"*I want to thank Governor Romney for his belief in me and my abilities and his clear message to me that being openly gay was a non-issue for him and his team."
By all reports, Romney knew he was gay before he hired him.
So either he had to kowtow to the far right and have him leave, or the advisor himself realized that his presence would cause a distraction for the far right. If the former, I wish Romney had stuck by his original decision to hire the guy and not be shamed into dumping him because of what the loons say. If the latter, I wish that the advisor had enough faith in his own party that they would respect Romney's decision to hire him in the first place.
Either way, it says a lot about the fear that the far right puts into GOP candidates these days.

Sucks but all accounts in that article indicate Team Romney wanted to keep him and attempted to change his mind (about resigning - not about being gay)
Or maybe he was horrible at his position. Thats a novel idea, eh? SMH. DUMB. I will give you one thing least you are consistently dense and oblivious.
UPDATE (3:10 p.m.): The Romney camp has now responded via campaign manager Matt Rhoades: We are disappointed that Ric decided to resign from the campaign for his own personal reasons. We wanted him to stay because he had superior qualifications for the position he was hired to fill.
That is a perhaps too subtle retort to those calling for Grenells head, that he was not hired to advise on gay issues but on foreign policy matters.
UPDATE (3:50 p.m.): Right Turn has learned from multiple sources that the senior officials from the Romney campaign and respected Republicans not on the campaign contacted Ric Grenell over the weekend in an attempt to persuade him not to leave the campaign. Those were unsuccessful.
Huh? By all accounts he was excellent at his job. Just forced out because he's gay.
I do not know all of the details, nor do you as you only hear what the (liberal) media reports but the fact that you believe that it was purely driven by the fact that he is a homosexual equates to minority people claiming they were fired based solely on the color of their skin. Granted there is a probably a moderately decent chance that the party brass wanted to separate or cut bait based on his sexual preference. One would have to be ignorant to not believe that occurs, but the fact that you do not even accept ineptitude as a remote possibility puts you on par with Al Sharpton in my book.
The fact that dude's sexuality is even an issue is sad. Who the eff cares what he does in his private life? If he is the best qualified guy none of it should matter.
