So I decided to look up how opposing qb's have fared when facing Tennessee in Knoxville. The results are quite impressive, despite playing some weaker competition.
AP- Spivey-11/22 94 yards with 1 int.
Sexton-2/4 38 yards with 1 int.
WKU- Doughty- 17/34 222 yards with 1 td and 5 ints.
Smith- 0/2
USA- Metheny- 21/42 234 yards with 2 ints.
Bridge- 3/9 23 yards with 1 int.
UGA- Murray- 19/35 196 yards with 3 td's.
USCe- Shaw- 7/21 161 yards with 1 td and 1 int.
Thompson- 1/1 5 yards
Only one quarterback, Murray, had over a 50% completion percentage (I didn't include Thompson due to the fact that he only attempted 1 pass). All qb's combined completed 81/170 passes and a mere 5 td's compared to 11 int's. This on top of giving Shaw his first int when we played him.
So our defense, overall, has defended the pass really well while playing in Neyland. Now if we could only stop the run.....
