As one Ducks fan put it, "I'd rather have a lopsided loss than take a lead in the game and then lose by one point, like Tennessee. Thank goodness the Ducks were never winning the game, otherwise I'd be pissed. I'm OK with this loss. There's no hot seat for our coach with this 62 to 20 thriller." Another Oregon fan agreed, sort of, "Losing by 42 points at home is bad. It is, but just don't make me watch a come from behind loss by one point in an away game. I could not stand that. We're good here in Oregon, but Tennessee fans must be really hurting. Maybe they should fire their coach."

Temporary heartbreak aside, it's always MUCH better to lose by one point than get blown out. Especially when you have been blowing out other opponents for 7 years straight.

That guy is crazy.

And he's likely lying.

I do agree somewhat. If I were going to lose I would rather be blown out than lose in a heart breaker like Saturday.

As a UK fan I think I can speak with some authority on blowouts vs heartbreakers and I can say, with confidence that heartbreakers are worse.

I believe heart breakers are horrible today but in a couple days you think hey at least they didn't stomp us into the dirt thats my mindset anyway. i hate to see a team i like get the living sauce beat out of them.

Heartbreakers hurt more right away but blowouts are worse over the long run.

The heartbreakers are much harder mentally and physically to deal with. To be so close only to see it slip away...

I'm not sure. I would definitely say a 10-14 point type loss is the least bad. Heartbreakers feel like you've been stabbed in the gut and it bleeds emotionally like that too. It's even worse when you had the lead late like UT has twice. Blowouts just leave you watching for 1-2 quarters like "what's the point?" It's more of just a lingering trashy feeling. Two very distinct bad feelings. A mid range loss sucks but it's not as terrible.
