Way to go, Willie! I'll always respect him for how he built the WKU football program up after its move to FBS. Congrats!

I'm pretty excited about this hire. I'm one happy Duck today.

As a Tennessee fan, who appreciated your support with regards to the Florida trash talking about the Vols, I am happy for your program as well! GO DUCKS! Keep pulling those trucks!🏈🍊

Taggart is one of my favorite younger coaches. For those that don't know he's coached under Jack Harbaugh at WKU & Jim Harbaugh at Stanford. Jim now has DJ Durkin (Maryland), Willie Taggard (Oregon) & David Shaw (Stanford) under his coaching tree.

Taggard helped bring WKU back to relevancy after their transition to the D1, where they were on like an 18-20 game losing streak. Oregon is a great fit.

He seemed to be really coming into his own at USF....but that's a stepping-stone type program. Good for him.

Did a great job here. Sad to lose him but it was inevitable that a bigger program would see his talent. He seems like a very low key, even tempered guy. The thing he can do is recruit and identify hidden talent.

I hope it works out for him. Oregon is one of the nouveau riche programs out there that appears to want to maintain their status as a top contender. And knowing such, appears to be a program that will be somewhat impatient with a new coach.

I think the key is to look at Dana Altman, solid, low key guy who knows how to win. He came from a smaller program and has the Ducks headed in the right direction. It feels a little like Taggart might be a similar kind of guy. Knows how to win, now he has resources and the big stage to perform on.

Easiest way to get fired quickly at Oregon will be an NCAA violation and bad defense. We've had some questionable defenses in the past but the tended to get enough stops to let the offense win the games. We've got to have better defense and maintain the offensive pressure that Oregon has been known for in recent years.

I'm a big fan of Willie Taggart. He's done an incredible job at USF. I was actually hoping we'd take a look at him back in 2012 when the Tennessee job was open. Think he'll be a good fit in Oregon.

That said, I do think Oregon should've taken a closer look at Eastern Washington head coach Beau Baldwin. He's one of the most underrated coaches in the nation and would've been a perfect fit at Oregon. He won a I-AA national title in 2010 and has made the playoffs 6 of the last 8 years at EW. He also beat Washington State this year and a ranked Oregon State team a few years back.

Baldwin would've IMO been the perfect hire, but Taggart is a very close second. My only concern for Taggart is that the fans might be impatient with him. At his previous stops, it's taken him a few years to really succeed.

Plus losing to Oregon State didn't help the situation.

Or Washington..... The loss to the tail draggers from up north hurt more.

Loosing in cornvalley to the critters Trump would grab actually isn't quite as bad. It just sealed the deal

I hope WT kills it at Oregon. I pull for the Ducks as long as they aren't playing us.

Taggart reportedly going after Strong as DC (sounds like a rumor), but don't see Strong taking a demotion. USF is the perfect fit for Strong.
