Keep in mind a clever way to mention they have a Heisman Winner in their school history. That's a fact most wouldn't have known without them letting it be known. Odd that the Beavers have a trophy winner and Tennessee has none.

Vols are the only team in the Top 10 All-Time-Wins without one.

Wow...Now that is a class act by the Beavers...Nice to see something like that...You think alabama or florida wold do that if one of our guys won the trophy?...Not a chance.

To be fair, there's some state pride implied. It would be the equivalent of Vandy congratulating UT for bringing it to Tennessee, or vice versa (lol).

Florida might as a stab like I insinuated earlier. It would be easy for Florida to give a backhanded compliment like... Congratulations to (fill in blank Vols player) for winning the Heisman Trophy something that as Gators has been achieved 3 times.

Lol we at want to congratulate you JALEN Hurd for winning 2016 Heisman for racking up i over 300 yards rushing against us. Being a Tennessee high school player we all take pride in your accomplishments. Lol I totally see your point.

I'm not surprised by the OSU ad in the Oregonian. People in Oregon do pull for each other in most things. This doesn't diminish the dislike beav and Duck fans have for each other when it comes to the Rivalry and the Civil War.

Not a game goes by that Ducks and Beavers don't pull for a win by anyone against the huskies.

Oregon is a state with a small population and it's natural that we have to "live" together and work together. So we have to get along and yes some of us Duck fans do have beaver fans as friends. We just don't spend time together when it's rivalry time.

And yes it is quite possible that ad was a way to promote OSU and the fact that they have a Heisman winner as well. For years we've heard beav fans tell us how we don't have a Heisman winner, now that will stop.

I will say I'm quite proud of the quality of the two heisman winners the state of Oregon has. Terry Baker was a great representative of what the Heisman should be about, as well as is Marcus Mariota.

"Always" is a bit too strong of a word here.

I know of one foundation that is backed by OSU alumni, that specifically hired some good lawyers to make sure that foundation funds never go to ANY student that attends the University of Oregon. This is a foundation that proclaims itself as a promoter of education in the state of Oregon.

And the reason I know about the law firm is my wife was the contract analyst for the firm.

So the word "ALWAYS" is a bit strong

Or they could say congratulations to petting manning for breaking all NFL QB records and winning a Super Bowl...something those heisman winners have never come close too.

Just a note GoDuck... Dave probably was not talking about OSU in his post.. When beavers are mentioned here rarely does OSU come to mind.
