I don’t know if anyone looked past the top 25 of the preseason Coaches Poll, but three of the top four teams in the “others” category are all on our schedule, as well. While I believe Florida is overrated at #28, don’t sleep on #29 UTSA. They went 11-3 a year ago and put up a lot of points. Although I don’t think they’ll come into Neyland and win, I also don’t see us pasting them 60-3 like I expect to do with APSU.

UTSA returns 17 starters. They are good. I don’t think they will beat us but I truly believe after Bama and Georgia, they’re in that next group of teams (USC, KY, TAMU) as far as level of competition

Agreed - they aren’t the cupcake most people think they are. Thanks for adding intelligent football discussion to the thread!

Their QB is really good and I agree that aren't going to be the walkover a lot insist maybe a 45-31 game for the good guys...

While I don’t think we should nor will overlook UTSA, the score won’t be close. They played a weak schedule last year. The 2 “good” teams they played, beat Army by 1 and lost to Texas by 20. Vols have an overwhelming talent advantage. The game might start out slow but Vols will roll.

Get just below the surface with UTSA and you see something different. They were 3-3 against FBS teams with a winning record last fall. Seven wins came against teams with a losing record plus an FCS team. One of their "good" wins came against 7-6 UAB. The other two were WKU and MTSU. Their only P-5 game was a 40-21 loss vs Texas. You can decide for yourself how impressive that is or how it suggests this game will go.

Personally I will be surprised if they show significantly better than Akron or Ball State.

I’m leaning with you I expect a big win in the 63-21 range UTSA is a good team but I expect us to dominate the trenches and playing in a front a big UT crowd will be very tough… I just don’t see them keeping up I know they are a respectable group 5 program but we will be an elite sec team and we will not overlook them.

We're gonna beat the dog piss out of UTSA, 😆

Playing in the swamp, potentially without Mays? That will be a close game. Wouldn't be shocked if they lost. I know there's no excuse for it but if it was anyone but Florida, you know?

They are better than most here give them credit for. Especially with our pass defense (from last year). Thankfully their best WR (Z. Franklin) transferred to Ole Miss.

Talent and (giggles) depth.
