'bham, whew! I think that might've been a worse whoopin' than we gave'em! The writer speaks the truth, though, and oh, to painfully remember how many times we grinded our teeth through articles like that last year, ourselves the objects of shame. What a difference a year makes, and how wonderful it is to be football happy again!

portland state? If they continue to play teams like that, they wont be able to hang with the big boys.

The larger problem, though, was that Cal seemed unprepared for Tennessee's size, strength and speed, things that can't be accurately judged on tape or recreated in practice. The Bears could guess, but as tight end Craig Stevens discovered when his lights were detached on the opening kickoff by defensive end Robert Ayers, the only way to know is to live it.

And Cal got a whole lot of living done Saturday, from both lines on back.

That Craig Stevens his was one of my favorite moments of the night. Got me jacked right from the start
