Ouch...UT Knoxville Among America's "Ugliest" campuses?

I gotta disagree on the music building. It's nice inside and out.

I think it's the window design and color.

Screams awful 70s to me. Would have been so much nicer to just use a more brick-heavy design like the ATC did:

I believe UTK is working on this. That's why so much constructions is going on. The Haslam Min Koa building are just the start of the campus beautification efforts. They are suppose to be upgrading the strip and all the building surrounding the stadium also. I love UT and the must haven't been to The Hill its beautiful up there.

The first impression pulling onto the strip makes the minds up of too many. Its nasty. Bums all over the place and closed down stores. Once past that and on the rolling campus hills and over to the river, its far from ugly.

The 70s era buildings are hideous.

Hess is hideous.

Humanities is hideous.

The library is hideous.

UT really doesn't do it's "wtf are trees" campus any favors with those buildings.

And this new $10,000,000 building?

Also hideous, in my opinion. Something just built within the last year somehow found a way to look like it was built in the 70s. That's probably why the band was so mad.

And TBA is kinda ugly from the outside.

Agree with all this except for Hodges. I like Hodges.

TBA isn't "kinda ugly"; it is hideous.

I think part of the problem is that there is hardly any green space. It's all concrete. Not to mention HSS and McClung, Architecture building, etc look so outdated. I wish that all buildings were built in the style of Ayres Hall. Having a matching campus would make it look much better IMO. But that'll never happen with the "modern" look the newer buildings are going after.

Dumb post. That building is awesome.

Campus is pretty ugly compared to several other campuses in the conference. But it will always be home and have a special place in my heart.

I'm in the who gives a rip crowd. Has anyone ever been to the FSU campus, now that's a dump. BTW I loved our campus for 4 glorious years.

It's "ugly" because it's an URBAN campus. It's ironic how all the pro-density, new- urbanism types shun UT's density because their plans were not selected over the years.

This guy has it spot on. University of Tennessee's campus is really ugly/trashy. There's litter everywhere, cigarette buds, overflowing trashcans. I've lived in Knoxville all my life, I've been to other campuses, UT's just doesn't have it. They need to put some serious cash to renovate it and NOT the athletics.

There's been tons of money spent in the last 4+ years on the campus.
