this may have been asked already.why are we still playing press man coverage?when the coaches know we don't have the corners to play this kind of coverage.is this hurting our db's?why haven't we put p wag back at fs?who is the player calling the plays in the defensive backfield?

just some things that i think need to be answered.

We aren't quite sure the answers to any of those questions.

The bigger problem......

Coach Sal also isn't quite sure the answers to any of those questions.

I finally figured it out..

We are playing 3rd and Chavis every single play this year!!!

DD said in his presser the CB are gonna play off.

He is gonna get the basic things fixed.

Defense will still be bad but much improved.

Sal will be in box and DD will be overriding incompetent calls.

I noticed the cb's wouldn't even touch the wr's on press coverage. They have 5 yards to try and slow them down but they are burnt on the first step.

Chief's defense gave up big 3rd downs but someone was getting the hell knocked out of them. There is not a word to describe our defense this year.

Can we please keep this about football.

If we play our cb backed off,I believe they can react better.they can also stay in their back pedal longer to see what the wr's are doing.

I know curt maggit needs to be on the field but I think we need more speed on the edges at linebacker also.who can we play at lb to give us more speed?sapp and brewer are the only 2 that I can think of.

Does Eric Gordon finally get to start?he makes some bad plays but he's the most physical corner we have.i think Gordon would make a good safety also because of his physical play.

I thought when we recruited Justin King as an ATH he was going to be a linebacker and bring some speed to that position. However I have only seen him in the wildcat. I know he played the wildcat in HS and was good at that, but we have not gave him any real chances at that. So am I wrong about what we recruited King for? Why havn't we seen him at LB?

Little to late to act like dd can fix this mess....I read his bs and he came off as a smart arse...he should man up and walk witb no buyout if he doesn't get the job done

No he shouldn't. Nobody would just throw that much money away. Would you turn it down? No way in H3ll so don't act like you would. If you don't like the buyout situation be mad at Hamilton thats his fault not Dooley. And lets be honest not a dime of that buyout is effecting your pocket. If you want him gone that is fine there are plenty of reasons for it, but don't act like the honorable thing to do is turn down the buyout thats just dumb.

Much like the OP I was hoping we could actually talk about football. I'm dumb for thinking that.

I'm sure it has been mentioned on other threads, but why not implement zone blitz packages or cover 2 to keep the receivers in front of the DBs? They'll get dinked and dunked to death but maybe that keeps a team from consistently converting 3rd and longs. Either that or the DBs have to jam their guys at the line and buy time for the someone, anyone to get at the QB.

I think most of the top JUCO DBs are committed elsewhere next year. I don't what alternatives are out there other than the get the DL to attack the gaps and disguise blitzes to at least push the quarterback. I don't see the secondary getting significantly better anytime soon. JMO.

Sentimore and McCullars have been the only ones on the DL that have done much. Sentimore has provided what little pass rush we have seen. And I think we can all agree McCullars has lived up to what we hoped he would in his 1st year here.

The Troy QB said Tennessee defense would tip off what they were doing. If a Sun Belt team knows then that's not good. Troy know what Tenn defense was doing. And it looked like they knew what we were doing. 721 yards of total offense.

This. The press part of our man coverage is lacking. Most of the time you see one cb playing up but hardly touching the receivers. The other dbs play 7-10 yards back. If youre gonna press, flipping press.
