i think phil does to, but right now vandy may be the better team. the only thing we can hope for is that clausen doesn't make any turnovers, and foster rips up the field.

yes, i hope we get it going on the ground, the only way we can win in my opinion is that we need to force turnovers...

I doubt we will lose to Vandy or KY. Memphis was the trap game remaining on the schedule. If Deangelo Williams had played UM probably would have won. That said, even with a bowl win I doubt a 7-5 record will get us back into the Top 25. The pollsters are already starting to insert teams with good records but who play in VERY weak conferences.

I say we win out... beat Vandy by a field goal and UK by 7. However, I don't see this getting us back among the ranks.

the only way we finish ranked is if we beat our last two by fifty and win the bowl game by thirty five.

I don't think our offense could hang fifty on the Acme school for the blind.

Statistically, Vandy is the better offensive team. Vandy is averaging 121.70 ydpg rushing. UT is averaging 112.22 ydpg rushing. Vandy is averaging 277.1 ydpg passing, UT is averaging 203.6 ydpg passing. UT is the better team by far on defense, but Jay Cutler is the best quarterback UT will face this year. If Vandy learns from Alabama and Georgia and doesn't blitz Clausen, then the short stuff that Clausen has won with will not be there. However Vandy's defense is allowing 161.8 ydpg rushing so Foster could have a big game. If I were Vandy, I would play to stop the run, not blitz Clausen, give the short stuff and force Clausen to throw it long. If they do that, then advantage Vandy.

Tennessee won't lose to Vanderbilt and Kentucky. Vanderbilt has lost 6-games in-a-row. Kentucky is just horrible.

Tennessee's 5 losses are ALL to teams currently ranked. In ALL 5 losses, the Vols were leading, tied, or within 6 points sometime during the 4th quarter. And the Vols are one of three teams to have beaten a current top 5 team. Tennessee, Florida State, and Michigan are the only teams to have beaten one of the current top 5 teams this season.

So no, I don't think Tennessee will lose to either Vanderbilt or Kentucky. I also don't think they will lose in the bowl game against an unranked opponent. However, 7-5 won't get them ranked. They are not even receiving votes now. The last 5-loss team to finish ranked was Florida (8-5) in 2003. But they played an extra game that season to get to 8 wins. You have to go back to 1999 to find a team that finished ranked in the final AP poll with only 7 wins (Purdue).

If the offense looks good in the remaining games, we will. If we continue to win ugly like against Memphis, I'll have to say NO.
