Can we talk about our most 3 recent hires?

Fulmer. Dude had no HC experience.
Kiffen. Terrible record at Oakland.
Dooley. Derek Dooley.

Our last Homerun hire on paper at the outset was 1977. In fact it was that untested Fulmer who got us a National Championship. Not the national championship winning Johnny Majors.

Both strong and Gundy are light years better on paper than any coach starting here in twenty years.

Just thinking of that exact thing this morning.

People are railing against some of the names thrown out but the fact is each of them are better than what UT has had for quite some time.

The fact is that UT will hire a head coach with significant experience, a winning record, a proven track record of recruiting and one who has demonstrated success.

That will be WAY more than UT has had for each of the last three hires.

Not a guarantee for success, but the percentages are certainly in UT's favor.

Very well stated.

Also worth stating that 5 of our national championships are from coaches with no prior head coaching experience. Consider Gundy and Strong the most qualified we have had in a while.
