It's only fitting that our last win over a ranked opponent in the last 20 tries has come against South Carolina, and so shall our next.

Prediction: After 2 weeks of preparation, a win-hungry Tennessee bounces back from an emotional loss against 6th ranked Georgia and snaps a 19-game losing streak against ranked opponents by defeating South Carolina in Knoxville.
:rock::rock::rock::rock::rock:

Flame away, but after the effort I saw in the second half, the offensive execution and the crowd supporting this team (finally a REAL home field advantage again), hell I'm a believer. GBO!!!

I agree its our best chance n sc looks very beatable for sure.

Cbj has to have this game to represent his statement game n year 1. Fla was there n we blew it n ga was there n we blew it. However team improve in ga n not fla so thats a postive.

We need it Bad to show cbj can compete in sec n win at home

We definitely need the win badly. As much as the loss hurts, I think it's a great teaching point that I know Jones will use to fuel this team. The bye week couldn't have come at a more crucial time. I can't imagine how hungry this team is right now. Looking forward to seeing them eat SC's lunch.

Spurrier had Fulmer's number, and everyone had Dooley's. We'll see if the ole ball coach can still bring it. It'll be very reminiscent of the 90's if the crowd is like it was against Georgia.

Spurrier certainly didn't have "our" number when he played against Kiffin's UT team.

There is no "X coach has Y teams number". This UT team is nothing like Dooley's team.

Different players, different coaches and a completely different system. Blocking, passing, running. All different schemes.

I hope so! I REALLY hope so! However Connor Shaw scares me with his mobility. I certainly hope our team can contain him.

And I'd love love love to get Saulsberry, Riyahd Jones and Mike Williams back for USC.

Saulsberry would likely get a lot of time in rotation.

Jones/Williams I think would get time in rotation on the outside and Coleman would move to Nickel. That could be a huge difference in containing a mobile QB.

We haven't fared too well in the recent past against mobile QB's. Hopefully the additional week of preparation pays off.

The bye week will allow for that extra week of prep, and it also provides extra time to work out a few kinks with our own execution. The only thing that sucks about it is that it leaves us with an extra week to sit around and speculate, worry, hope, and pray that this team will respond to the UGA loss the way we all want them to.

I can't wait for the game. I've got a feeling Neyland is going to be intolerable for USCjr. Fans are going to be hungry for another performance along the likes of the second half against Georgia. I just hope it's a sellout- 102,455 baby!!

I don't think the young Vols squad that took #6 GA to OT and left the field with tears in their eyes, and who themselves led the post-game team meeting, thinks Spurrier has their number. They think they aren't gonna lose and they have two weeks to heal and prepare. My belief is the Vols are gonna play a new brand of whipsomebodysazz football in two weeks. I also think older leaders emerged this week. It has been a missing ingredient for way too long and it sounds like it's there now. In my opinion, this is a huge development. Our program is coming together at a critical moment. Can't say the same about USCe.

Also, might get Young back for that game.

This shall, indeed, come to pass!

John Brice of Volquest.com made an interesting observation about South Carolina on the Butch Jones Show yesterday. He pointed out that the Chicken Nation has struggled mightily on defense in the fourth quarter, therein surrendering copious amounts of points. This undoubtedly will not be lost on Butch Jones' coaching staff. Look for them to really push the tempo in the fourth quarter and try to wear out the Gamecocks with their physicality and conditioning.

I strongly believe that if our defense plays the way it did last weekend and Worley plays how he did, I will witness the end of our terrible losing streak against ranked opponents.

Very credible opinion....the numbers support such a conclusion. More on this later.
