I see the NCAA meeting with Hamilton and telling him if they fire Pearl that they will go easy on UT due to many self-imposed punishments already. I hope if that is the case that Hamilton looks across the table and says "Screw you...he's our coach...period." Now granted this probably won't happen as it would take Hamilton growing a pair between now and then.

Pearl screwed up...we all know it. But he has been suspended, docked pay, and kept from recruiting...and the whole time he has kept the ship semi-afloat. He loves our program and assuming he has learned his lesson he is what is best for our program for the long term.

Did he learn anything at UWM?

How many times does Hamilton have to say "We are sticking with Pearl" before everyone understands that? Just a week ago he said he as sticking with Pearl unless new violations were discovered, and it looks like none were. Pearl isn't going anywhere.

If Pearl was going to sign another contract with UT, don't you think that would have happened already?

In short, no.

Now that the NOA has been received with no surprises I would expect the contract situation to progress.

Last I heard Pearl received a new contract and his agent made changes and sent it back to the University. A few days later I heard Hamilton say that they received it and would be getting it back to Bruce soon. (Lawyers/agents reviewing and passing it back and forth)

Once again, if they were going to fire him they would have done so by now.

This makes you think Hamilton already knows the potentional punishments UT is facing. Agree?

I'm with you. If you are going to fire him anyway, why work on a new contract when you don't have to in order to fire him.

Anybody know if Tennessee's repsonse to the NCAA will be made public like the NOA was today?

Yes, I love this idea! Instead of showing people that we won't put a coach ahead of the university, and getting a chance to get off easy by the NCAA, we tell them no for a coach who has made one elite eight in his career and have tough sanctions on our coach. YEAH FOR STUPIDITY!!!!

Would they not wait until the NCAA rules on his punishment??

Maybe, but if the penalties don't come till, let's say July, you probably won't get a good coach at that point.

I think if we fire Hamilton, it will satisfy the NCAA's request. The Atheletic Dept. is just as much to blame for this fiasco.

Hamilton is getting KILLED on the Atlanta sports talk shows..... Sometimes we might be too close to the situation and our orange glasses blur our vision. They are laughing at how all Tennessee fans were so happy to be relevant in some sense that we took up for Kiffin...now look...
These idiots on the radio make some good points but i hate it !
