Jeron Toney is a VFL and lays it on the line every game, but when he couldn't run down that FL receiver who made the first down on 3rd and 10 just showed the lack of speed we have. He could have stopped him for a 3 yard gain, but just couldn't get in position to tackle him. The upgrades next season will be awesome.

I think Payne is much more likely to play the NB position than Gaulden.

Coleman @ nickel puts size & hitting ability in the "box". Gives a more physical presence than Toney. I'd like to see how it works.

I think I got some clarification:

Williams was with the 1s in the Spring but got hurt.

Jones was with the 1s in the Fall due to Williams being out.

With Sutton looking legit on the outside and Coleman being a little shaky in coverage, the move for Coleman inside to Nickel definitely makes sense.

As weird as it is, the way this worked may be for the best. Coleman gives us good speed inside and between Jones and Williams, one will land the perimeter job.

Underneath stuff has killed us all year. That 31-yard completion against us last week was well covered but was just a well placed ball. Most of Oregon and Florida's passing yards have been underneath. Coleman will help seal the perimeter on those stretch runs that have killed us.

I like Toney and Swafford but they're not legit SEC level talent. Coleman will do much better and, if we have to play 6 DBs Coleman/Jones will be better than Toney/Swafford.

Swafford has given up at least 3-4 tds this year. He made a great play at florida but overall he is a weakness.

Well, he is beating out scholarship athletes for playing time in the SEC, what does that tell you? I am giving the guy some praise. Not sure if you noticed, he was one of the few guys in orange actually making plays against UF. The guy could eventually earn a scholly and be a stud, give him some time.

CB transfer in from Maryland. Wanted to run track, Maryland wouldn't let him. He is fast. Brother of Madeiu Williams.

Coaches like his coverage and ball skills AFAIK and he was playing with the 1s in the Spring opposite Coleman. With Suttons surge onto the scene, Williams is possibly going to supplant Coleman at CB and Coleman moves to Nickel.

That's the theorycrafting going on right now.
