This is the second incident in the last year.

U.S. Department of Defense spokesman Mike Howard in a statement May 4 said that “U.S. Space Command is aware of and tracking the location of the Chinese Long March 5B in space, but its exact entry point into the Earth’s atmosphere cannot be pinpointed until within hours of its reentry, which is expected around May 8.”

What if chunks of it plow into Beijing? Do you think that would induce the Chinese government to invest in enhancing the rocket to achieve directed reentry in the future?

This is probably a dumb question, but since at the moment the pieces are ~160km up...what's the likelihood of them burning up or otherwise disintegrating (partially or completely) during re-entry/descent?

The previous one of these did mostly burn up, but some pieces landed on earth.
