First, let me say that I am a Razorback fan, however I am not hear to dump on the Vol nation. I have family that lives in East Tennessee and my father-in-law and wife are from there so I follow the Vols. I think fans should not worry about the twitter junk, it is just SEC hate and not necessarily Vol hate. I know from this end how it feels to go through the ups and downs of a search.

I think maybe it is time to look outside the box.... look at hiring Butch Jones from Cin as your head coach and then use a lot of money towards a defensive coordinator and staff. I have been impressed by Jones and I think he would be a great hire. I know a lot of time there is emphasis on the HC, however if you look at Auburn, once the OC left the team went to crap.

Invest in a good coach, however invest more in the staff and the ship and be back on course. Good Luck guys..

He was in every game? He didn't lose to Louisville until OT? Really? That's the argument for him?

I know you don't mean any ill will and are just trying to have a conversation, but this is a really tough time for a fan of a team that just hired a three-time Rose Bowl coach to come in here and provide an "outside observation" that Tennessee needs to just suck it up and start rooting through the grab bag.

Well, no hire is a guarantee, even someone who has gone to the rose bowl multiple times.

I will end by just saying good luck on the search and hope it works out. #SEC

Sorry but the days of us hiring Derek Dooley types has come and gone...We appreciate your view on our coaching situation there piggie but honestly We are TENNESSEE, We are not going to be desperate enough to hire another coach who comes recommended by outside sources...Last time was a joke.

Jones stalled Colorado, hoping for UT, then reneged on a verbal once the Strong sh!tstorm started. Choices that seemed unthinkable just days ago have become more than possible.

lulz. This is gold. We are not what we once were and I could debate ark is a higher profile position

It's true that we're down, but IDT Arky is higher-profile. They went pretty far down their list, too, and even made the Miles blunder, but the media pile-on has centered on us. We are the program that everyone loves to hate. Don't really understand the venom, but it makes us look less attractive right now.

Congrats on your hire. Most, including myself, are not that impressed with Butch Jones but there are worse names floating about. Personally, I would prefer Phil Fulmer again before some of these new names surfacing. Really we have zero say-so in this matter. If he goes with Kirby Smart, CKS could be another Will Muschamp for all we know. The important thing is that the incoming coach receives our support until he proves HERE at the University of Tennessee that he cannot get the job done. We don't need to call for anyone's head before they've even had a chance to fail.

Of course a fan of another SEC team would fully support us hiring Jones, just like they all thought we should've kept Dooley. They will suppport any coach we hire as long as its a coach they know they can destroy year after year.
