Do you all think the problem with kick coverage is they do not slow down as they approach kick returner? I noticed the kick returner just run right between two defenders time and time again.

At times they overpursue trying to get that elusive angle that we discuss here, only to have a quicker player simply cut back. Again, a speed issue. Auburn just went after devrin. We are so slow, we have mathematics and angles in our head as we try to tackle rather than just making a play, which makes us even slower.

We had one kick where we had 4 players in the same lane.

Are you saying we are actually TOO FAST on Defense??!!

Huh...thought we had the opposite problem with speed...

lol, I think it's more then one problem, but I noticed throughout game, we can't get off blocks, like we were super glued to the auburn players.

Not saying we are too fast, but if you are still sprinting when you are within about 2 feet of returner, it is hard to move laterally.

What I see is that we don't fight to stay in our coverage lanes on both punts and kickoffs.

As long as the coverage teams maintain their lanes they should be able to control the returner and not allow huge returns.

teams have basically sent 2 or 3 guys at JRM and made our walkons or 4th string make tackles. I feel bad for Orta and this isn't meant as a shot, but we have Orta trying to make tackles while I watch Bama have Christian Jones out there running guys down on punt coverage. Again, speed and talent difference. Is a top 10 pick or 4th string db more likely to have a good angle and speed to make the play.
