...how many more candidates do we get trolled on before we end up with someone like Golden?

2 is the magic number

What say you?

You assume that Golden is not higher on the 'official' list, which may not be the case. Clearly there are a lot of people that think very, very highly of him for some reason. I think He may legitimately be the 2nd name on the remaining list.

Sadly you may be correct
Strong or Fisher and I can live with that.

...but not if it is Golden or Fedora? Man, I loved the idea of Gruden running the sidelines for us, but that dream died hard today. Whoever the new coach is, it will be better than we've had for several years now. As far as I can see, nobody "in the know" really thought very highly of DD when we hired him but Golden has somehow earned a lot of positive accolades from some very prominent folks. The UCLA people were disappointed when he was not hired there before they got Mora. Some placed him higher on the final list than Kevin Sumlin, who ended up at TAMU and we know how that turned out.

I'm not saying I love the guy or that he's my first or second choice (I'd prefer Fedora, Davis, or Fisher personally). But he probably isn't anywhere near as bad as others make him out to be, and the same can probably be said for Charlie Strong.

I think there are 2-3 guys who would take the job today. Butch Davis, Bobby Petrino and Phil Fulmer.

Fedora may not want to bail on UNC after 1 year.

Strong would have to make a decision as the AD there said if teams come calling, they will open the bank.

Golden has been quoted as saying he is staying in Miami, unless he wants to make his wife cry.

John Chavis would be interesting because I think we would have alot of the "gang" back, but new ideas.

Fisher just seems like a guy who Hart has in his pocket. 9-10 win seasons would be huge improvement over what we have had but at what cost? Is he Fulmer for twice the price?

Agreed, what is your stance on Petrino? I just get this bad feeling he will produce another winner quick and act right and we will regret not getting him.

Petrino would be a good hire if he could keep his zipper up and his Harley on a straight road. I'd bet money his a$$ would be on his best behavior on the hill. Just keep his Viagra prescription filled and his wife in jewelry.
