I think this team will overachieve this year. I see too many improvements to list. This team is starting to become one of my favorites. This team appears to come to work everyday with the goal of getting better. I have to respect their hard work and dedication. We will look back on this team in years to come, and say this is where the championships all began!

Brother, I wish I knew what was swirling in your snifter, 'cause I'd have a double.

Aside from Palardy, I just don't see much to suggest that much as changed from week one. I like the fight, but the talent gap is discouraging.

That being said, I would love to agree with you as we celebrate a bowl victory. I'll be there if we are.:)

Overachieving for this team would be playing rock solid football by the end of the year. I think they will get there. Hopefully that means we make a bowl game appearance. To win a bowl game would be short of miraculous. I'm in too brother!

I like what you are saying, but I have decided to just keep drinking heavily until we win another SEC title. At that point the wife has orders to sober me up, so it is unlikely that I will remember much about this season. :)

This is the best/ positive thread I have seen! I actually made it to the last post without a NegaVol ruining it. I'm in with ya! GO VOLS!

I myself just don't see much diffrence from last yr. Next yr will tell if were headed in the right direction. I'm not talking about wins or loses I'm taking about competing and not falling apart when things aren't going our way. I've seen to many of our teams in the last 6 yrs just fall apart and end up getting blowed out. I really don't expect much from our team next yr as far as wins because its going to take awhile for Butch to get this mess straitend up Ijust want us to compete and keep it close. What does everybody else think?

I'm not as optimistic as the OP, but I do see improvements from last year in several phases of the game. Hoping for a bowl game.

I just want everyone to see we have improved in all facets of the game that we could have. Except for the passing game and this is not to bash Worley or the receivers. It is just to say we had an unbelievable talent at WR, QB and at TE. It is difficult for first year starters to surplant Juniors and Seniors and NFL talent for that matter. We are a consistent QB play away from being 4-1 on the year. If we find that consistent QB play we will win 7-8 games this year without much problem.

Agreed except I already see us going in the right direction with the recruiting class coming in. There is some badly needed SEC ready players with speed in that group. Depth will still be an issue next year because a lot of players will leave. You are correct to say it will take some time.

Pretty much what Butch said they have to be to have a winning season.

You are on the money. I am really disappointed in the Vol fans who boo and bash Worley. I can understand the frustration, but Worley is just not that great and the TEs and WRs are not either at this point. The freshman QBs are apparently not ready to win games or they would be playing.

I believe Worley is playing close to the best of his abilities and needs encouragement and more coaching to get better. He also needs his receivers to mature as well. We have seen Worley make some great throws, but others that make us scratch our heads. Like it or not, he is our guy now until the freshmen are ready. Booing and bashing him will not make him or the receivers play better, nor will it force Butch to put in the Freshmen.

Good post! And let's face it, we are exactly where each and every Vol Fan thought we'd be after five games. We beat three nobody's and lost to two somebodys. Yes I know we all wanted to be 4-1 however, that is just not in the cards - yet. CBJ is working hard to salvage a decent year and hold onto our recruits and while I, like most folks, want more now, now, now - it's time for patience and praise. Stay positive Vol Nation - rewards will come to the humbled.

I thought this was a post for the basketball team.

kind of off topic, but are we the first team in NCAA history to block our own field goal?

Nah. Seen kickers hit their own linemen in the arse with low kicks before. Now, blocking own kick with a hand.... you may be onto something there.

Our fans will be very surprised how much better this team looks against Missouri, Aubrun and Vandy than they did Oregon and UF.

If we could somehow pull a shocker one of the next two weeks we could really take off. We just need a small sliver of confidence to carry us to November.

(We also need to stay healthyish).
