I believe that one thing that many of the pundits overlooked was how the highly rated recruiting class showed up for work. If I remember right, there were something like 17 early entries into school. That gives them huge advantages:
  • They get to participate in spring practice
  • They get the use of the training facilities
  • Their meals are specially designed/prepared
  • They get a head start academically which allows them to potentially take a lighter load in the fall
  • They bond with each other
  • They learn what the coaches want/expect
  • There are 6 months to work on any weakness
  • They get past the doe in headlights syndrome
  • The playbook is not sprung on them

This group of athletes WANT to win. They are not the typical freshman class. GO BIG ORANGE!
