Okay...this is a dumb idea for a thread...but is there available overseas (or across-the-border) talent available that could help in the absence of any JUCO immediate help?

Anybody on the staff looking outside the continental U.S.?

Here's what USF's Jose Fernandez have done in recruiting "outside" talent: USF goes international for women's basketball talent | Tampa Bay Times

Quote:

"They don't get caught up, I think, in the name. They don't have travel-team coaches or AAU coaches or handlers telling them where they should go," Fernandez said.

"I think if you get the right ones and the ones that fit into your system, their mentality and work ethic also are very good. They live in the gym and they're also good students."

The European players, in turn, get a package deal — hoops and an education — practically unavailable in their home countries.

She should've been looking at some of the talent in Italy while we were there

It's been reported that they are looking at someone but don't get too excited. They also said it was hard to clear all the checking to ensure that the players have not received any type of assistance. This leaves me to believe that it is a lengthy process and will not happen anytime soon to help the present situation.

Jose would be the expert recruiter for foreign talent. His latest recruit, Kitija Laska, is an assassin from anywhere on the court. She has a mid range game which is the lost art of basketball. In the past, he recruited some very good international players. Jim Jabir at Dayton and Kevin Borseth usually have one or two Canadians on their teams. They buy into the team system, which they play in foreign countries.

I fail to see that talent is the problem with the girls basketball team
