I committed a sin today; the UCLA USC game was such a good game I kept watching it even when the SEC game came on. I was like many I thought the PAC 10 couldn't play defense, but after watching USC against ND, and UCLA today I beg to differ. UCLA's DE's had 24 sacks before today's game even started. They smacked John David Booty around all day and made him like it. Last year they gave up 66 points to USC; today only 7. The other two came on a safety. I hope our D can improve that much over the next year.

That game was a much better game to watch than the SEC game. All I heard about UCLA was how ND barely beat them, but now I think people can see how good their defense really is. You have to admire the class that the USC head coach has, most coaches could learn alot from Pete Carroll on how to carry themselves after a win or a loss.

I watched the end of that game during the half time of SEC game.

That game was played at UCLA. Thing that amazed me was that, in last 2 mins and with USC driving, it was awfully quiet there. The teams may be good, but the fans out there clearly are not like they are in the SEC. No way, no how.

I said the same thing on that drive..way to quiet for having 90,000 people there.

Also, the Rose Bowl is a dump.

What is the deal with UCLA's defense? They were one of the worst in the NCAA last year. This year they hold USC to 9 points. That's quite a turnaround. Did they get a new D coordinator or something?

In conference, team defense is different than what it is outta conference. Granted for the most part the Pac-10 is D-less most of the time, but the main rivalry games are usually close.

Agreed. It's by far the worst stadium that I've ever seen. The stadium should seat about 55,000 people, but by allocating each person only about 12 inches of space on the bench-style seating, they're able to report capacity of about a 110,000.

Actually the capacity is around 92,500 at the Rose Bowl. The record crowd was just under 102,000 in 1984 for a Soccer Game.

Mark May on the USC-UCLA game: "I think the key was the defense." Brilliant observation.
