No one is truly above anyone else. The transfer portal, NIL, etc. have somewhat leveled the playing field. Multiple top 10 teams look like crap. Wouldn’t be surprised if 1 of the playoff teams has 2 losses.

I thought FSU might be the squad to beat, then Boston College almost beat them.

Could Notre Dame be the nation’s best team?
I'm thinking USC. I've never liked them, but they're gonna make me like them (the medical center), and I'll likely be out there soon 🤣

There's no real data to support this. While it can be said that there are transfers making impacts, the overall impact of the portal and NIL has no data to support its impact. Everyone but Clemson is taking in transfers. Coaching a development are still key, which the usual suspects st the top (except Bama apparently) still have. You also have to consider teams like OSU, GA, and even ND are breaking in new starting QB and OC pairings. I think of the top 9 teams with number if transfers Ole Miss and Colorado are the only ones ranked

I forgot they’ve got Ohio State next…you may be right.
Or beat Ohio St then lose/almost lose to Duke.

If ND beats Ohio St, the conversation around Ryan Day gets even more interesting. Not because he'd actually be on the hot seat, but just among their fans. Some of whom I think legitimately want him gone.

For me right the best team is either USC or Texas. I love the fact that there is no traditional Bama or Clemson that is heads and shoulders better than everyone else. Like the OP said I think a large part of that is the portal and teams that have taken advantage of the NIL opportunity. I wanna know what the national media does here in a few weeks when their darling Colorado has dropped like 3 in a row?

At this point, if you remove any kind of bias from last season's results, Texas really should be #1. They have the most impressive win so far and looked good doing it. UGA scuffled for a while in their first game against an opponent with a pulse, and is 100% doing the "go through the motions until we need to start playing well" thing. I have no clue how good Michigan or Ohio St are or aren't based on who they've played. FSU almost blew a huge lead to a bad BC team. USC I think still has defensive issues, although it has looked better (against bad teams) the last 2 games.

We're about to find out a lot more about Ohio St and ND this weekend. Washington has been much better than I thought they'd be.

I'm not a big one on slamming a team for struggling but winning especially early in the season. I was overly concerned with us struggling against AP because let's face it, these kids over look teams like AP when you have a game after it like Florida. Now what I saw against UF has me concerned but that's a different topic. If I was ranking the Top 5 right now it would be as follows

1. Texas
2. FSU
3. Washington
4. UGA
5. USC

I think its too early to call it one way or another. Its not really parity if you are just replacing one top dog with another.

It could just be a down year. if you look at recruiting rankings its not because Bama, Clemson, Ohio State, or even Georgia have stopped recruiting very well.

texasss will not end up there. Bama is down; texass played the game of their life.

They will lose to someone they shouldn’t lose to.
