Said on FOX news that the GOP not taking both houses was the worst case scenario for the White House. Because Obama can't run against Congress for the next 2 years.

i think they can still overturn it. you could see more senate dems vote to overturn.

that is true though. hussein still has 2/3 of of the branches. I don't think he'll compromise a lot, he'll still to push through his socialist agenda.

All spending bills have to come out of the House, right?

Boehner will probably pull out the GOP health care bill that they tried to publicize when Obama and the Dems shut them out then tell Obama that his plan will not receive funding.

joe is right also. There are Senate Dems up for re-election in 2012 from dark red states. Manchin has to run again along with Goodwin in WV. Conrad, McCaskill, Ben Nelson, Bill Nelson, Tester, and Webb are all in red or red leaning states and will have significant incentive to join the House GOP in "fixing" the healthcare law.

So. It's a law unless they overturn it. The spending side might be painful for pols, but the law is going to exist and be funded.

no way they overturn it anyway with obama in office and his veto power. i agree that not winning the senate reduces obama's built in excuse for 2012 that he would have fixed everything if it wasn't for all those republicans in congress stopping him. he'll probably still use this excuse anyway though.

he'll use the excuse, but without huge turnaround, he's toast. His greatest strength was the fact that people didn't know enough about him and the media let his background slide last time around. This time, he can't pretend to be something he isn't. This "transformational" Washington outsider lie is finished. Dude is a lazy ass hyper-liberal and now everyone knows it.

I agree, he will use this in 12'. I think his problem (as far as winning in 12') is that he has pushed enough through in 2 years that he will get graded on its failure. Last night was the mid-term, '12 is the final exam.

Obama's veto can be over turned with a 2/3 majority. Judging by all the wheeling and dealing they had to do to get it to pass in the first place, I think they can achieve that now if the Repubs force it.

And what will the bickering in the legislature about this accomplish when it gets wiped out with a veto?

The GOP needs to work on stalemating what new "improvements" the Left will push for, and not go picking absurd battles that they will not win.

not a chance, unless it's close to election time and folks are running scared.

You're looking at ±21 needing to cross for that to happen, I can't see it being even close to feasible.

If you look at what had to be done in order to get the current law in place, it would make you think it wouldn't be hard to sway a good chunk of those guys back to their original leanings. But I think they need to do it now while they have the wave to ride on.
