Come one Kiffin, Are we going to reduce ourselves to going after kids that probably won't qualify academically? Do we really want players other elite SEC teams don't want? I can see academic problems for this kid. I hope the kid proves me wrong.

He's a 4* WR that's 6'3" 215 and runs a 4.4 forty...that's the kind of athlete we need on the outside

According to Rivals he has a 2.9 GPA which means all he needs to qualify is an 18( I think that's the minimum) on his ACT..

And he had offers from every team in the SEC...he narrowed it down to the list you see on Rivals(he just added us too) on his own accord

Your right...who wants a WR that runs a 4.5 and was also ranked #1 in Best Hands per Rivals. I really hope we don't get a schmuck like that....

i read the article on the front page. i dont know why, but i would like to see him get a chance here. maybe because he seems humble. i dont sense that in many of the recruits i read about.

According to Scout, he was his teams "place kicking specialist", so maybe CLK is hoping he'll kick for us....

sounds like a Jayson Swain type of receiver to me, which isn't a bad thing IMO

Impressive that he added us with no contact from the staff.

UT needs players---Kiffin needs to get talent on the field to beat bama and UF---as long as he can get in, that's all that matters.

Why do you think Bama and LSU do not want him??

I do know Bama is running low on scholly's. Also the kids ACT is not that high, and with them being low on scholly's it's more of a risk for them. Can't speak for sure on LSU though.

1. By "reduce ourselves" you're saying we haven't done this before. There are players we know aren't going to qualify in every class.

2. His GPA is plenty high. His ACT is only slightly low, and he has plenty of time to retake it.

3. His measurables are great and he apparently has some of the best hands in the country. Why would we not go after him?

We have recruited lots of players over the years that didn't qualify academically and had to go to prep school or juco. We have 3 coming in this year. Sykes, Hall, Hughes that didn't qualify originally. I'm not sure why the Patterson kid should be any different if we can get him.

Grade issues maybe

Due to the same reason, I am a little bit surprised to see we are after him. 2 points in ACT is not to overcome, but I hope we have a back-up plan.

The perfect WR corp this year would be: Marlon Brown, Jeron Stokes, and either one of Alshon Jeffrey or Patrick Patterson. Boom, Done!

Once he is in college, who cares anymore about high school. Let him in and he can start a new life in college academically.
